Mred, who's opened up 2 additional threads on Bernie Ward said: "Seems KGO people are defensive. I hope the FBI investigates. Maybe Citadel should cut its loses and fire everyone at the station and just do syndicated stuff? KGO is due for a major change."
I guess 2+2 does equal 5 now. Because of Bernie's Ward's indictment, KGO should fire all its top rated talk hosts, and Citadel should just plug in syndicated programming like all the other cheapskate talk stations with 1.0 ratings?
Somebody else suggested (hopefully tongue-in-cheek) that because of all of this, KTRB's day is coming?
Even if KGO management is circling the wagons and the other hosts are protecting their friend, they should be investigated by the FBI? Mred: are you suggesting that the other hosts are guilty by association and must be down-loading kiddie-porn too, or that they should be investigated for loyalty to their friend??
The comments here really are getting hysterical, and I DON'T mean in a funny way.
I DO remember the Duane Garrett scandal, and I don't remember hearing any of the other hosts saying anything to rationalize the mistakes their friend made. The circumstances were a little different - Garrett committed suicide, and it was only after his suicide that the details of his crimes came out. It was already over when everybody found out. His friends at KGO loved and cared about him, and were grieving. They also expressed disillusionment and dismay about his crimes. I think they acted totally appropriately in a difficult time.
By the way - I watched ABC 7's coverage of the Bernie Ward story when the news first broke. They ended the story with a disclaimer distancing themselves from KGO radio by reminding viewers the 2 stations were now under separate ownership. Watch out, people - it's all going to get a lot uglier.
