Brian Kennedy-Sacramento Radio Personality

The Sacramento Bee reported over the weekend that longtime Sacramento air talent Brian Kennedy passed away.
He had a heart attack while at Hot August Nights in Reno on August 4th. Brian was a veteran of KGMS, KROY, KCRA,
KXOA and KGNR to name but a few and started his career in the Capitol City and KJAY.
His memorial service, a celebration of life will be at noon Aug. 26 in the Folsom Room at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West,
2200 Harvard St., Sacramento.

Rest in peace old friend...

Brian was a very talent guy with a nice voice and a gentle manner. I will always think of him with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye for some little joke he was thinking.

Most people don't remember this: Brian was actually Sacramento's second talk host. The first was Lee Kirk at KCRA. Brian was his producer, I believe. Brian, as I recall, took over the show at when Lee left.

PS -- In the interest of accuracy I suppose I should point out that Lee Kirk was not the first on-air personality in Sacramento to ever take phone calls from listeners on a regular basis and exclusive of playing music. That distinction probably goes to Gil Krause and his one-hour nightly teen talk show, "In Line" during the late 1960s. But as far as I can remember, Lee and then Brian were the first to have three hour shows which were strictly talk.
