While celebrating 31 years of Contemporary Christian Music on Nashville radio, Brian Mason announces retirement this morning. He says his plan, his timing, but..................I wonder??

Any thoughts??

There's at least two syndicated CCM shows that Mix 92.9 can pick up...some of you may remember the show "All Worship" was on Sunday mornings on WNAZ for a year or so before they gave 89.1 to Bott. Right now, the closest affiliate is WCVK 90.7 in Bowling Green, KY. The other show is called "Sonrise". I've heard it on AC stations on Sunday mornings when I travel...

I've retired twice in the past 9 years.....I wish Brian well and the enjoyment I've had

Brian is a good guy and loyal. He, liked many of us, thought that format would do a lot better than it has.
Go back and track both sales, depth of artists impact, and rating trends of stations doing CCM these years and for a format that supposedly had depth, meaning, and influence, has proven to be rather "pop" and a bit shallow. Somehow the vision got lost in all the corporate games of labels, management, and a few artists who thought more about crossing over more times than once. Brian would wait another year and another year to see something get better. Good luck Brian and thanks for giving it your best shot.

Well, the Fish has obviously taken the majority of the audience over on the format and it would be tough to expect them to show up on Sunday AM on any station, much less a Lite AC station, but all that aside, the reason for Brian actually leaving in June is, sadly, health related.

Brian.. You have been a mentor and hero.... From my Florida (twice) days and Nashville days at Way.. Then to do a show in the same group (South Central) at Flagship WIKY... "Job well done, Good and Faithful Servant"... I think the two shows the above mentioned talked of, are the one's that replaced my "Joyful Noise" on WIKY, when I moved to south of Nashville in November of 2009 to turn a small AM from broke to break even...
