I never had the opportunity to work with Brian Murphy, but no doubt like countless others here-- I admired his talent nearly to a fault. Whether it was in the '80s on Eagle or just a few months ago on B-101, I never, ever heard this guy not sound absolutely amazing. Every time I'd hear him I thought to myself, "Geez. Doesn't this man ever have an 'off' day?!"
While I'd recently heard he was ill, I was still so sorry to hear of his passing earlier tonight. 57 is far too young. My sincerest condolences to his family, and to those of you who worked with and knew him over the years. Everyone I know who's worked with him-- both here and in Boston-- have had nothing but tremendous things to say about him both professionally and personally.
P.S. -- I still have (and use daily) the Zenith System 3 color TV I bought from the old C&C Appliance in King of Prussia. The only reason I went that day was because I was listening to Eagle (might have still been "Electric" at the time) and the live remote with Brian Murphy and Garry Leigh sounded too exciting to miss. When was the last time you heard a music station remote that was good enough to make you want to stop what you're doing and go down there?
