Incredibly sad.

Having worked at WREC, I got to know Brian a little bit. We'd always have a good time with Brian....HELLO I'M BRIAN TEGLAND...AND I JUST BROKE YOUR METER!!!!

The first weather cast of his that I recorded sounded so bad- and he was soooo loud.

He was a good man, and was exceptional on the air. He will be missed.

You're right. Regardless of what he died from, it's a terrible waste. That being said...

I asked my wife, an MD, about this. All we know, of course, is what's in the newspaper story. It said that Mr. Teigland was being treated for diverticulitis. I am told that the complication one fears from diverticulitis is a bowel perforation (though, it's uncommon). If that happens, the patient will become septic, and get very ill, very fast. Perhaps that's it? Or, maybe not.

There will be a Memorial for Brian. If you wish to attend it's this Saturday morning (August 2nd) at 10 a.m. at Bellvue Baptist Church on Appling. His station, WPTY, channel 24 will carry the event live.
Donations to the Teigland Family Trust Fund are being taken at all branches of the Bank of Bartlett and, I would guess, at the Memorial on Saturday morning.
