Brian Williams Admits He Wasn’t On Attacked Helicopter

And then the dead body floating by in just about the only dry area of N'awlins.

Just saw a report that 40% of viewers surveyed say Brian Williams should resign, 35% say he should stay and 25% are undecided.

This is proportionate, but it may effectively end his career. If NBC is stable after six months, why bring him back? He now has baggage. A shame he felt compelled to embellish the story. No, I mean LIE about the story. He's not a bad guy, but he made millions because he was percieved to be ethical. Seriously, what he does isn't particularly difficult, so he's only paid such a salary because of an image, one he has undermined. I think it may be over for him. Only time will tell.

I wonder if NBC would make Brian Williams an "Un-Person", just like they did Conan O'Brien?

After the end of Conan O'Brien's run on The Tonight Show, NBC proceeded to remove every single trace of his career at the network from their website and video sites across the internet. With the exception of an episode of Saturday Night Live he hosted and a first season episode of 30 Rock in which he and his show play an integral part in the plot, no other Conan footage appears on Hulu or NBC.com.

I can't recall. Did they do the same with Letterman, when he went to CBS? I recall that Letterman couldn't use some of the elements of his NBC show - like Larry 'Bud' Melman became Calvert DeForest (his real name) for awhile, then the 'Melman' name came back, so apparently attorneys for both reached some agreement.

Willliams likely ruined his career. And may have damaged or ruined the career
his actress daughter Allison Willliams.
Unless he gets a talk show on Fox or TV another network. Or, in the
basement of show biz---- talk radio.

Give it a few more weeks and NBC will announce that they and Williams are 'parting ways'. He'll get a settlement on his contract. His daughter owed much, if not nearly all of her acting career to her fathers fame and influence. I'm not saying she doesn't have any talent, only that many other aspriants do as well, and her connection to him made the difference. So I don't know if his fall ruined her career as much as brought it back to earth. He's done as a broadcaster. He could rebuild some credibility perhaps by going into charity work, but I think he'll try to get a talk show or something, somewhere, and it'll just never gain traction.

There are worse things than early retirement, especially with the kind of money he has.

Brian Williams May Lose Anchor Job But Remain at NBC News (Report)

NBC is reportedly in talks to keep Brian Williams, but maybe not as anchor of “Nightly News.”

According to a new report from CNN Money, a series of negotiations are taking place between Williams and NBC. The report says Williams may “lose his seat as anchor of the ‘NBC Nightly News,’ but executives are looking for a way to keep him at the network in a new role.”

They could be offering him a role in an attempt to salvage something of his remaining contract, but I seriously doubt he ever makes it back to the anchor chair. I'm not sure Lester Holt will be offered the job on a permanent basis either.

Andy Lack is Brian's buddy. Andy Lack brought him along and promoted him in the first place. It's Lack who is pushing to "find something" for Brian.

Probably not Holt but never underestimate the power of affirmative action. Bob Schieffer is available and has a track recording of rescuing newscasts from discredited presenters.

If NBC is smart (a big "if" given their history), they won't let whoever reads the TelePrompTer be "managing editor" and have control of the show. It probably will - and should - revert to the executive producer.
