Brian Wilson of Beach Boys

Sad day for all of us who grew up feeling deep and good vibrations from his music.

KCSN in LA played a couple of Beach Boys songs when the news broke this morning. Pet Sounds and Wouldn't It Be Nice.

Around that same time, WFUV in NY played God Only Knows and I Wasn't Made For These Time.

WXPN Philadelphia did a full hour of Beach Boys, including In My Room and Good Vibrations.

There's a song on their Surf's Up album that would be most appropriate.

HORRIBLE NEWS.
RIP to a 20th-century musical icon and legend. First Sly and now him.
Condolences to Mike Love and Brian's surviving family and friends.
Say hi to your brothers for us up in Heaven. And may there be Good Vibrations and angels singing.

Nobody alive knows Brian Wilson better than Fred Vail. Fred became the Beach Boys manager in the late 60s, and the head of their short-lived record label: Brother Records. Rolling Stone caught up with him after Brian's death this week:

Speaking of whom, you will enjoy seeing this:

And on the passing of Brian Wilson himself, were I the programming director for an oldies station today, I would put the audio track from this Youtube video on my air without hesitation. What a wonderful homage to Brian's finest song.
