Briggs was kind enough to Email Mburg when he tried to contact somebody in Jax Radio. Why didn't he write Cat Thomas or Miss Gail first? Remember long time North Florida radio fans, this started this whole Rah Rah Renda deal. Mburg, he thought you were a chick!

I beg of Jacksonville's worst and least succesful PD, Briggs, cut off this pen pal relationship. Tell him the truth! You have one thing going for KOOL, Tom Murphy. Your so called heritage Jax Morning Guy has never been in the top 10 in morning ratings, in all the years he has suffered this town through his lack of talent!

Briggs did not start this...this started way long ago when we realized KOOL was not at all worried about not getting DJ's on a soon as possible. But it is time for KOOL to let go of the Arrow heritage and make the station like KOMA in OKC........If someone can follow what KOMA has done then KOOL could be easily a top 10 station......but it has to start withing the chain of commmand...I do wish the best for Renda.

Sorry, but KOOL/Jax isn't even close to KOMA as an Oldies station.

Not necessarily an Arf fan but---
I worked in Sales for Rock 105 in the 80’s and early 90’s. Arf and Rose, plus the Arf and Annie show were in the always in the Top 5- Top 2 until Arf left for a TV sports job in 1991. Lex Staley told me that Arf’s night show in the early 80’s was number 1 in every book. Arf may not be getting numbers at KOOL, but he did before he got to Renda. Hey, maybe sometimes you’re only as good as the people you work for?

Nope not arf, but i agree wkql s....and it alway will unless a new PD arrives that knows about the music and yes new jocks!!!!!!

In the fall 05 book Kool is up in the ratings. They're not #1 and may never be #1 either, but the station super serves it's listeners and advertisers too.
Kool runs lean, so they don't have to crack a big monthly nut to make money! It's about money! Sure the big dogs get ratings and $$$ but the also must crack an even bigger monthly nut just to cover their cost. It's about how much you keep,not how much you make. It's about money, nothing else, nothing more!

But I think in a market like Jacksonville, they're in it to be profitable, not just operate and hope to do a little better than break-even.

If Renda truly wants to be a "big dog" in this or any market, they'll have to work toward being one of those who's generating competitive revenue. Latest Miller-Kaplan shows they're not exactly lighting the market on fire (save for their AC station, which is doing OK). Nobody expects KOOL to be #1 in the ratings but I'm betting their goals are higher than #15 or #16 25-54.

How about myself.......just kidding......but you are right a fireball is the way to describe someone who needs to come in and get Renda to be where CC and Cox is in this city. Renda has a chance at and it needs to it now.....Now what about WGNE in this latest Miller-Kaplan...how is that station doing.......I know they have had to done well for their first year here in Jax. WSOS sold for over 7 Million.
