bring krth hd2 to wogl

I think the car companies get a premium for selling Sirius or XM units whereas HD is just a supplied option. Sirius-XM have been subsidizing the dashboard for awhile now. I don't know if Ibiquity and/or the radio industry have ponied up in similar fashion.

Had to say I was impressed tonight, I was at the Springfield mall and had my Insignia HD with me for a change. Don't know if it was the location or what but every HD signal came in loud and clear and with no drops. Every station that has HD came in strong, OGL's 4 came in great also. So I guess if you are in the right location HD can be a good thing. As usual the B had the best HD-2 the 80's but a great variety, from Hair Metal to Dance, all the MTV staples of the 80's, I guess the B knows how to do it on either channel. OGL's 70's was stale, flat and soulful, no surprise, just listen to their predictable main channel. Does anyone else notice the main signals never mention their subchannels, the only ad you hear once and awile is the generic ad that tells you to get HD for all the extra channels. You never hear Jaxon say if you want live rock cuts try our HD-2, or BEN promote their dance HD-2, RFF telling you to hear hard rock and alternative to hit their HD-2, MGK's classic oh wow cuts on HD-2, the B's 80's, 106.1 letting you know Rumba is on their HD-2, Wireds Hotwire on their HD-2 and on and on....you never hear the HD's mentioned on a jocks watch...why is this??

'smoke points out another HD Radio "issue" - and for once, it isn't engineering. It's pragmatic and political.

HD has a problem with credibility and commitment at the local station management level. If stations promote their subchannels, they run the risk of fragmenting their audience. Understand that management and sales jealously guard against erosion of even a single, solitary listener. The reason: most agency commercial placements look for, say, two, three or four stations deep in a desired demographic. So if you're among the top four ranked stations, you get a share of the budget. If you're #5 you get bupkis. Nada. Zero.

Well-connected sales departments can detect some of these borderline situations and finesse getting a little piece of the buy sometimes, for a station that's "on the line," but often they don't. So from management's perspective, HD represents a threat to revenues. In this economy they get even more protective. So score one more serious hurdle for HD. Add it to about 6,322 others.

Exactly. When I'm doing resource-rich things on the computer, winamp is sometimes too much of a hog, slowing things down. A dedicated wifi radio and an FM transmitter put a reliable programming stream into the whole house without burdening the computer. The only restriction is with stations that don't have an alternative to their Flash players. That's still a problem, and the result is that I'm less likely to listen to the stations I can't get on the Wifi radio.
Which is why the Wifi radio is a niche device without a niche. If you want to listen to internet radio without using a computer, and you don't have and don't want a smartphone, the most useful thing you can buy to do that is an iPod Touch or an iPad.
Huh? Why would I buy an iAnything or a tablet when I want a Wifi radio which I can get for around $100? Why would I spend mucho bucks on a device that is full of features I don't want or need? Except for the issue of portability, that doesn't make any $en$e.
