Brit Hume To Exit Fox News "Special Report" Following Election

The top political anchor at Fox News Channel plan to step down from the nightly broadcast this fall, in exchange for "a part-time role" at the network, similar to Tom Brokaw's current job description at NBC. Hume will also continue as a panelist on "Fox News Sunday".

I say, the less Brit Hume on TV, the better. I mean, can anyone really understand what he's saying half of the time? Here's Exhibit A.

Typical comment from someone who is the PD of a station that bills itself as "The Cockroach".

Agreed. I think he is a very intelligent journalist who will be missed. Sad to hear, especially after the untimely loss of Russert and Snow.

For the record, it was not disclosed if this move was due to health reasons; otherwise, I wouldn't have added that little nabob of snark at the end of my post. And according to the article, Hume's agent is in negotiations with Fox regarding a "future role" at the network, and Hume himself even said he is "no longer as interested in politics as I was". So I'm sure the guy is fine, health-wise.

...I don't want to imply my post was about health issues either. I just allude to Russert and Snow as good news journalists like Hume is.

Certainly, I'm not trying to attack his journalistic credibility, either. But there are some who, after sampling his eloquence the last several months, question why he is still a top anchor at a major news network these days.

But I do with Brit all the best, whatever his next venture may be.

Hume always seemed to be half awake whenever I stumbled across his show on accident. I usually made sure never to find it on purpose.
