British Soul and Neo Soul.

Just curious, with talks of a new British invasion from England. I am curious if this music would work on alternative outlets. I would consider it alternative style or would a specialty show work for it better? any thoughts??

Which invasion is this one? I hope we're not talking about Adele-alikes here...I had room for exactly one Adele. (And one Amy Winehouse, but that's besides the point.)

How about a group like Hiatus Kaiyote? They are from Melbourne, one of my favorites, but same sound. The women in that group sounds like Winehouse. I read an article of a soul explosion coming out of Great Britain.

Alice Russell, Joss Stone, Omar, Jamiroquai, Incognito, Adele, Sharlene Hector....Groups like that. They have an electronic sound to their soul. I think they could fall under the realm of alternative music.

Jamiroquai did chart with "Virtual Insanity" (both on alternative and CHR) in the 90s. And Adele, well, we know where she went, but it's worth noting that she was first played by Alternative stations like Radio 104.5 prior to breaking big.

So there is a pattern that shows that others, if there is a "new British invasion", that it could very well break into the Alternative charts. I should say, however, if they're more on the Adele side of the spectrum, that it may be more of a Hot AC type of thing. I don't even think Radio 104.5 plays her anymore.

What about Janelle Monae? She may not be British, but she is definitely neo-soul. And rock. And dance. And... her album The Archandroid is a genre-buster by any measure. Mind blowing stuff if you have not heard it.

I agree Janelle should not be left out.I really liked her records as well.I would like to see
A platform for this music.

Not sure if the rest of her music is the same, but Serena Ryder's "Stompa" sort of fit in this category and it got some Alternative airplay (although it didn't peak very high and seems to have vanished). She's Canadian.
