Britney Spears - Gimme More

Spun Gimme as soon as we got it on Thursday night, and then again Friday, once in all day parts. I LOVE the song, but got some real negative reaction on the phones. 80% did not like it... Does Britney still matter? Thoughts on the song? Should stations play it simply because she talked about on every gossip mag/web site?

Britney Spears is awful and always has been. I'm surprised it took everyone so long to figure it out. She can't sing without the use of studio technology (hence the fact that she always lip-syncs), her songs have the most asinine lyrics and practically none of them use any real instruments. Not to mention the fact that she is a terrible person who cares for no one but herself. Her ego is as overinflated as her belly, so let's make it crash to earth by not supporting her.

I think people need to be reminded time and time again, that your personal opinion of the song/artists has very little (or nothing) to do with the decision to add the song to your radio station or not. The question is will your TARGET AUDIENCE hang on to your station for all 4 mins of Gimme More, or will they tune out?

Britney Spears look good......Well she was looking good ( B 4 the Haircut and Drunkness ) , Now Britney, dont look good . Britney talent is now gone .

Well, judging from the feedback, it looks like "Gimme More" could end up turning into "Wanting More". Its already picking up more spins and adds at CHR, Rhythmic, Dance, Rhythmic AC and Hot AC. So yes they are sticking around for Britney's four minutes of electro-fied flavor that she has to offer.

It's picking up spins because programmers are playing it due to the "event" nature of the song, not because it's thought to be a huge hit. It received 90% negative from my audience. However, I think some listeners are voting against Britney and her recent antics and not necessarily the song. Whatever the case, the song still isn't that good. Sounds like a weak 80's Madonna clone to me.

Exactly--they're called hype spins. They were given to "My Prerogative" when it was released as well. In real numbers the song gained a measly 7 spins in between 4 AM and 2 PM or ten hours. In a full week that would be about 120 spins/week.

With that said I do like the song but I don't think it's a hit. If the audience hates the song for Britney and not the fact it's a bad song it doesn't matter because they're still gonna tune out. I think that's one of the reason why I think she should wait at least until 2008 to release anything.

I think it all depends on just how big the hype gets.
I remember 75 percent of the listeners in several markets hating "My Heart Will Go On."
Then Titanic arrived in theatres.

Well it has been the hottest request of the week on Z100 NY. #1 on the top 9@9 all week.

Realizing of course that Z100's phone numbers, website voting links, jock emails, etc are the #1 most posted piece of information in fan boards such as this one? http://pulsemusic.proboards48.com

I like the song. Curse those catchy pop tunes! BUT, I have always liked her. She is a great performer, as in great dance routines. Understood why she doesn't really sing live. Her VMA gig was a mess. I think I watched the whole performance with my hand over my mouth.

We are not adding it. It really is a crap song. I know MY personal opinion doesnt normally decide what gets played etc... but in this case... it does. It reminds me of the PARIS HILTON track. People were jumping on that... "OHHH! We have the single from PARIS!...Blah, blah, blah". It was a crap song. We never added it to rotation. Same thing here. Now, if people start lighting the phones up...then I will start to rethink the decision. However, seeing that hasn't happened....I know we made the right call.
