BRITNEY SPEARS' "IF U SEEK AMY" CAUSING POTENTIAL PROBLEMS FOR RADIO

Three things they could do:

1. Have the title changed to or identified as "seeking amy", like KZON has displayed on players on radio's that have the ability to show artist, station, and title.

2. Cut out the entire "All of the girls and all of the boys....etc." verses, like they do on BBC Radio 1 London.

3. Edit out the parts they hate, just like they did with the word "satellite" or "satellite radio" from the Black Eyed Peas "boom boom boom" song.

By the way, I'm currently filing a lawsuit against all the schools my siblings and I went to that used the word "satellite" during their spelling tests, now that I know that it's so horrible that they are editing it out, while "ass" still gets by in most songs! How dear they teach kids that word! What a bunch of phunky satellites those teachers were.

Not all CHRs are editing the satellite radio part of the Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Boom Pow". Anytime I tune into L.A.'s Amp Radio it's not blurted out.
As for the Britney son, surprisingly enough I've actually it unedited in some small (and some would say conservative) markets.

There is nothing wrong with that title. It's pretty clear that it reads "If U Seek Amy." Any other interpretation is on the listener.

That said, these ******* that run radio stations are the same people who gave us "Don't Mess With My Heart", so you never know.

Have you ever read the FCC's policy on what, why, and how they can fine you? And PS...what the title LOOKS like has zero bearing on the issue. Ever heard the actual song?

It's entertaining to see people blame radio stations and the people that run them for something like this. Without public complaints, this becomes a non-issue. If the litigation-happy bottom-feeders that unfortunately make up a percentage of radio's user base would simply change the station, instead of crying to anyone that could hear them, the "******* that run radio stations" would have less to worry about.

At the very least, you can thank Janet and Justin for bringing the issue into the spotlight, causing fines to skyrocket in the past few years.

I disagree.

The "bottom feeders" are those who produce songs like this, those who distribute them to radio stations and encourage their airplay, and the DJ's who choose to play them.

With a radio license comes the responsibility to serve the public and to NOT play patently immoral songs. Obviously it hasn't been exercised, or else I would be able to turn on my favorite CHR station without hearing "Lollipop" or "I Kissed A Girl".

Your definition of bottom feeders would cease production if the public didn't want the records or buy them.

Obviously?

Interesting that you feel that because your view of morality isn't perfectly represented, that it 100% of a market's CHR audience agrees with you. Since when was it radio's responsibility to dictate morality?

I respect your conservative views, but in Radio's attempt to serve the public by, in CHR's case, serving up the biggest hits as demanded by their audience, you're going to just have to accept that those views won't always match up.

It doesn't matter. If everybody's doing something wrong, it's still wrong. Simple as that.

I never said radio needed to "dictate morality". But the least the radio (and music) industry can do is refuse to play such indecent songs. They do not serve the public nor society by playing them, as such songs tend to have a bad influence on especially younger listeners. Perhaps if radio stations would wake up and stop being so negligent of their duty in this area, "artists" like Spears would be less prone to writing oversexed or degrading lyrics to their songs.

What is it with people... Obviously some of you are just too conservative,, your not in the CHR target demo so get over it.... What exactly is wrong with the word Sattelite,, Yesterday was the first time I heard my local CHR bleep it out, and I was outraged...

And just what is wrong with i kissed a girl,, just because a girl sings it... its 2000 freaking 9,,,, and these arent CCM stations.... Play the hits,,, its not our job to play Preacher and Parent,,, If someone doesnt like the song regardless of lyrics they can change the station.

Im surprised no one said anything about Leona Lewis-Bleeding love, which from the first time I heard it I called it the Female Period song..... Keep bleeding over and over again......

When did you become the moral authority? Who are you to determine something is wrong?

You did, actually. Just because you didn't use the words "dictate morality," doesn't mean that's not what your words said. All of Radio getting together to determine what songs are appropriate for the audience, rather than letting the audience determine that, is EXACTLY how that's defined.

Now you're just making a fool out of yourself. How can you say you don't want radio to dictate morality, and then write an entire paragraph like this that COMPLETELY endorses exactly that? ::)

Since the song has become a huge hit(as I predicted it would), most stations have done the smart, simple & obveous thing- cut out the "K" so it sounds like "beggin' to if you see Amy". I know it doesn't make any sense when hearing it, but oh well it's making $.
They should be more worried about Lady GaGa talking about her "muffin" in Poker Face :D :D :D(5th week at #1)
