Broadcast audio associates 8 channel broadcast console

We have a retired Broadcast Audio Associates broadcast console at the station here in central Florida. Best guess is early to mid 80's vintage - 8 channel. High mileage as it was just taken out of service within the last two years. will try to get a picture to post tomorrow.

Is this worth something to somebody?

Got one I could use the parts for. Unfortunately, the shipping would probably be outrageous, since those things are heavy as all get up.

Strip out the channels and boards and ship them. Scrap the frame. Much cheaper to ship that way.

ok,
Shoot me a model number and picture if you can. I have an old one that I have been babying along for some time but is missing a card or two. Might take it off your hands.

Don't see any model numbers. Where would it be?

Will post picture soon.

If its the one i think it is, lift up the top lid and the label would be on the right side by the power supply.

The power supply is external. Dave Strode at Sandies can offer more information on them. (215) 547-2570

Hmmmm. then its not the one I am thinking of. As Roseanne Rosannadanna once said "nevermind".

Yes. I have a Series I console. It has a cast metal UMC Beaucart medallion embedded in the hinged wooden wrist-board that covered the bottom of the modules. Later Broadcast Audio consoles had a screen-printed metal label instead.

No takers on the old board???

Hard to imagine - almost every radio engineer I have known is a pack rat due to the difficulty in finding old parts.

Did I mention that it works?

We are pack rats, but at some point we also move on. It's a lot easier to put in an IP based system to replace an old board and be done with it.

There may be some small market station out there that is still using one, but even the ones I've encountered have ditched anything from 30 years ago.

I have seen the storage units for the old engineer from this area - er, I mean seven storage units. They are all full of stuff as old or older than this board - cart machines, receivers and decoders of every shape and style, reel to reel machines and the tapes to go with them. None of that stuff will ever be in a radio environment again, but there it is none the less.

How about if I throw in a mini disc player and an old telephone system? Any takers now?

Geez... a lot of that stuff would sell very well on Ebay! There are still a lot of people out there who build home studios with vintage gear like cart machines, etc.

Small plate inside of upper right lid says: 8-158
We're using one of those! Ours is a Series VI, 12 channel, and the plate says 12-125. The series number is on the metal strip along the bottom of the meter bridge.

Do you have a card extender for it? We need one of those. Might be interested in some modules if it's compatible.

I just recently restored one. It's a nice looking console. I've yet to find a place to put it yet.
I could use some advice on restoring it ... the main problem is that the channels bleed through to the buses even when they're off, like the optical relay isn't closing completely. Did you notice a similar problem?

Any chance of some photos?

The mini-disc player would be interesting but it's probably 120 volts, I need 230 volt gear (unless it has a switching/switchable power supply).

What sort of phone unit do you have?
