Broadcasting And Cable.com: Nasty Cable Carriage Dispute In Wyoming

Although it's in a small market, Broadcasting and Cable.com is reporting on it's website (registration may be required) that several TV stations in Wyoming may disappear from Brensan Communications' cable systems in that state.

The article reports that the stations want to charge Brensan 12 cents per month per subscriber each, while Brensan has countered by notifying the FCC, claiming that three of the six stations involved in the dispute are operating jointly in violation of FCC ownership regulations.

This seems to me to be the nastiest dispute I can ever recall between a cable operator and a broadcaster.

Seems to me a lot of this would be that there isn't a lot of over the air options available for people in Wyoming. I mean if you live in LA, Chicago or NYC, you get enough over the air stations. But with fewer people and the distances much greater,not to mentions the mountains, I would rekon it would get nasty<P ID="signature">______________

Internecine warfare at its best. Does either side really win when it is time to count the dead and the dollars?
