I'm not sure if a topic has been made elsewhere but...

Does anybody know what's happening?
First they said that their database was hacked into then it wasn't hacked into. Any other subcribers?
Their front page has an article with reports that it was all FALSE.

Well if it was "False" where did they get my email address to send me the fake message to begin with?

Seems like some sort of breach occured. Maybe they didn't get sensitive data like passwords but just the email list.

Still this is the reason I never have the same passwords on banks, ATM and websites.<P ID="signature">______________

Or maybe they just did a phishing expedition using e-mail addresses, regardless of whether or not those people are subscribers.

I get a few dozen such e-mails a week, all purporting to be from financial institutions that I do not have accounts with.

I'll go you one better: I don't do the password thing for financial transactions unless they have SSL on the logins.

I actually went ahead and tried the link, all it did was unsubscribe me (and it did this automatically) from the site.

Which I haven't used in over a year anyway.

It didn't even phish for any info. Which probably means someone had a grudge against that site and wanted to make the site owners think they were losing members.

I spamed copped it and it came from MCI.com as the host of the email originator.

Hmmmmmm
