Broadcasting from....

High atop the John Hancock Center, does any stations have studios in the Hancock ? I think I heard a jock or 2 on WDRV mention having their studios there.

I thought I remember The Loop advertising this back in the day but saw on wikipedia their studios are in The Mart now.

Also what does "On top of the rock" mean ? The rock of Chicago WLS ? Tom Kent said Jane Byrne was on top of the rock when she was mayor ?

Thanks from the Racine Radio Head. :D

if i remember correctly 103.5 was there (i lived up there in a mid 90s.

if i remember right rock 103.5 would say from the top of the ****...

Stations that had/have studios in the Hancock Building:

WLUP AM/FM, WUSN and Rock 103.5.

Dunno who is there now.

WPNT was in the Hancock in the 90's. In the early days of 103.5 WKSC, they were still in the Hancock building too..

As others have mentioned, in the recent past WUSN and WLUP were in there too..

There also used to be some type of sales office in the Hancock for the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas...it was down the hall from either WPNT or WUSN...I found it odd that they would have a sales office in Chicago..

Last year I visited a friend who works at The Drive. They are now the only Chicago radio station broadcasting from the Hancock Building. At that time, the vacant WLUP studios on the 37th floor, which date back to the days of WSDM, were still available.
