BROADCASTING YEARBOOK, IN PUBLICATION SINCE BEFORE WWII, ENDS

I just read online where the annual Broadcasting & Cable Yearbook, formerly Broadcasting Yearbook, which has been a bible of the industry since the early days of radio, has published the it's last edition. The 2010 edition is it.

To those of us who worked in the industry, this thick (and expensive) reference book was invaluable as a reference guide to stations and related radio/TV/cable info. It's just a victim of the Internet...all of the information in it can be found, albeit not all in one place, online.

The book goes back into the 30's. The oldest I have obtained is 1935; despite looking I have not found anything else in the 30's and many of the 40's issues are extremely rare... particularly as libraries eliminate seldom used publications or as the paper crumbles and the usage vs. cost of digitizing makes no sense.

Even fewer libraries and collections have the weekly issues of Broadcasting.

I have a copy at home - I believe that it is
from 1948 (approximately). It is fun to see how
many of the stations/manufacturers mentioned
there are still around...

Check it for the year, if you can, please. Then check the listing at:

If it's 1947 and not 1948, it is one of the few I do not have (you can see the rest of them in PDF's there) and I'd sure like to talk about buying it!
