Broadway Bill Lee out at KTU????

That's what's being reported and supposedly confirmed. Seen this on Allan NY Radio Message Board. Think he goes to Z to fill in afternoons for Cubby?jp

It is confirmed. :eek:For dance music fans, Broadway Bill Lee is our "Dan Ingram". He has been a legend here since the days of Hot 103 and 97. When we had the Metro New York Dance Radio Coalition, I had stated back in 1995 that when a dance station does return to the New York airwaves, Broadway has to be a part of it! I am HOPING that the decision to dump him was financial (similar to Dan Ingram) and not because of other changes yet to come. And if the latter is the case then dance fans in NYC had better be ready to react. Because if that is the case, the M.N.Y.D.R.C. will be coming back!

No way, I love Bradway, have been a HUGE fan for years.... but Z100? that wont be where he goes. No his rhyme schtick wouldn't work there. IF WNEW were smart they would scoop him up immediately.

Tony; what's confirmed? the Z 100 thing?
Sorry, I should have been more specific. That "Broadway" Bill Lee is out at 'KTU. I have also heard that Jewelz was also out at 'KTU as well.Maybe this is me being paranoid but SOMETHING is going down there and New York dance fans had better be prepared for it.

well, if it goes down, Vic Latino would be perfect for Z 100!(and he'd bring a dance/club mentality there!)
Here's the thing, hypothetically speaking.IF 'KTU goes down with a change and IF Vic Latino were to go to Z-100, I can't (nor would expect to) see him influencing dance music on that station, especially considering that Z-100 is a CHR.

Mr. Lee will not be going to Z100 according to a person in the know there.Romeo is the new MD at Z100. As has been announced elsewhere. And Jewelz is out. Happened last week or on Monday I believe. As is Mike Opelka, APD and former Morning Show Producer.jp

Being that Whoopi Goldberg will have a morning show on 103.5 come late July/early August, something tells me that perhaps...JUST PERHAPS..."Jack" will have competition.GRANTED, by no means am I saying this is so. This is just speculation based on all of the dismissals and a sense of where 103.5 might be going.

What about a adult leaning station by dance and pure new dance at night?

The information I posted on Mike Opelka is apparently not true so please disreguard that. It came from a trusted person who apparently had a brain ------.Hope this hasn't cause Mike any grief.jp

Tony, I laugh when you say stuff like that. Bill Lee was a legend YEARS before he even got to New York. If you never heard him prior to NYC, check out Reelradio.com. There are airchecks of him on KFRC from 1983 that put his work on Hot 103/Hot 97/WKTU to shame. And to tell you the truth, I couldn't even listen to him once he got to New York. I admit, I'm not into dance music, so I am biased in that respect. However, when he worked at KFRC and WTIC-FM, they played all kinds of music, so it was much more enjoyable hearing Mr. Lee (Lenky) talk up "I Think I'm In Love" by Eddie Money as well as "Mama Used To Say" by Junior.

Wayne,With all due respect, this is the NEW YORK area of Radio-Info. I am aware of his stints in San Francisco and Hartford but we are basing all "Broadway" Bill Lee talk on what he has done in New York, to which he was an on-air personality on such dance/rhythmic as WQHT and the current WKTU. That is why I had noted that he had been a legend HERE since people, that live here, know of him based on his work on those stations. And for dance music fans, the best way to describe his talents is to compare him to Dan Ingram. And no question, Dan Ingram is a VERY high standard of on-air personality. Most people, outside of here, never heard Bill Lee in other markets but I do not question any aspect of his incredible talent on those stations. And whether that would be dance, CHR, A/C, etc. Bill Lee is an incredible talent...one that will be missed unless Mix 102.7 snaps him up. AND QUICK!

All Access is reporting that Broadway has exited KTU and that Hollywood Hamilton will return with another returnee, Goumba Johnny, to do afternoons on The Beat of New York!

Very sad news about Bill's exit from KTU, I grew up in the Bill Lee KFRC Era and worked along side Bill at KFRC, Bill's next gig will be bigger then KTU, Don't be surprised if he starts talikng with the Satellite companys and works out a good deal for himself, this is huge loss for New York Radio.
