Brokered time?

Fairly new to the market. Looking to buy (cash) one hour per week, weekend day if possible, on a decent stick (FM prefered, but AM will do). Not an infomercial or religion, but family friendly...whatever the blazes that means. Any suggestions before I start making phone calls? Any idea of approximately how much?

Thank you!

More than 100 views and no responses? I'm a direct respnse genius!

I'm not being evasive, but it's both. Music plays a major role, but there's a lot more talk than a "standard" music show. Listener phone calls would be nice, but not necessary.

Oh no, it's the elusive, never-successful hybrid show! Like the quest for the city of El Dorado, it doesn't really exist, but a lot of us keep looking.

Most stations are Automated around here and the opinions of owners and managers are that they don't want to go through the headaches of selling time like what you want to do. For one, people not paying their bill with the station and two, board ops tearing up equipment. i not trying to discourage you, but I'm a station owner and manager, and I have a situation like this right now. The jock buying time from me tore up the mic fader on my console, and I had to buy a whole new board. FIVE GRAND OF LOST REVEUNE! I'd rather just stay automated.

My advice is if you find a station to buy time from, build your own home studio, then send the program to the station, via ISDN, web audio, etc. I know of a guy that is doing that on a FM here in this market and it's working great for him!

Best of luck with your automated station. Sorry your brokered guy stiffed you and "tore up" your equipment.

That being said, your scenario doesn't really apply to me. I am willing to pay cash in advance (no billing required) to the station and will post a bond to cover any "damages." Again, sorry that your guy wasn't on the up and up.

I could direct you to an AM or two outside of Nashville that serve part of the city. Their rates are affordable and they have decent signals. To do what you want on FM here will be hard.

If you're itnerestd, contact me offlist and I'll put you in touch with a station owner.

Thanks, Paul. But I'm looking to contact local principals directly or at least get an idea of how much the avegare hour would cost. If it's a "no go" here, I'l start making phone calls. Good luck with your new gig at WAMS.

Would you be interested in anything in the Memphis market? I could set you up on a family oriented am station. Can you be a little more specific about what you plan on airing?

Hello, littlebig.

My business plan calls for the show to start in Nashville; it's an important part of the equation. The hope is that it could be syndicated to other markets, taking on more of a cosmopolitan approach, which would be integrated into the show gradually.

Think A Prairie Home Companion meets Mad TV, sans the really racy material.

TO PAUL WALKER,

How in the hell do you know what's going on in Nashville, when you don't live here and you are on ever other broadcast list on the internet, pestering everybody! I've been in this business longer than you have been alive and let me tell you kid, you have too much time on your hands!

My apoligies go to the moderator of this list, but this guy starts way too many false rumors, and can keep his nose out of other radio station's business!

How is offering to pass along some information that the person asked for and might use sticking my nose in their business?

If you have the balls to insult me like this, email me offlist and reveal exactly who you are. I don't hide myself, neither should you..
