Brotha' Fred leaving for Chicago

I saw this early today as well. I was just curious as to the rewards of larger markets in today's tight environment. How much of a bump is moving from a #24 to a #3 market on average? I know he will also be syndicated but that could be done from any location.

Still, to be based in a top-10 market, especially a top-3 market is still a high honor, even in this day and age. Congrats Brotha' Fred.

I think the smart thing is to make big market money in a city without big market expenses or hassles. Like John Boy & Billy, Bob & Shari, Matt & Ramona, and Ace & TJ.

Question - and I don't know the answer! I've never seen the Charlotte ratings.

Is Brotha Fred and his crew in Charlotte having rating success here to the degree that would warrant a move to a major market like Chicago? Or, is this a crapshoot on the part of Clear Channel? Making a change and hoping it works.

I see they dumped Drex, the guy the Brotha's replacing, in the middle of a hefty contract because his ratings had dropped precipitously in recent months.

I sure the Chicago move is Brotha Fred's choice, albeit in January (brrrr)....

I'll have to do a little more research, but, are any of the aformentioned shows syndicated in markets bigger than Charlotte? I know John Boy & Billy had short stints in Atlanta and Dallas but they didn't last too long in either one. I think Bob & Sheri were on a Connecticut station but one that had very little penetration in NYC or Boston. Just wondering...

Good point there...and also...C'mon, Charlotte is a nice town, but Chicago is a world class city. The winters arent much fun, but the increased access to guests and artists would be enough for aTop 40 morning show to move.
