Brother Bill Gable, former CKLW DJ & PD and longtime air host and PD in Orlando and Toronto chimes in on music research.

Note: Bill's article is last on the page, and starts about 4/5 of the way down.

I found a station on Live 365 that plays all Halloween music all the time.

And Brother Bill chimes in about the prominence of FM radio receivers in this country. We can thank the US Congress for mandating that all radios in cars and all portable radios over $15. must have an FM band. That legislation was in 1974 and slowly drained the life out of AM radio and took away our choice of an AM or FM only receiver.

That same legislation should be used to mandate AM ST on all radio's over $15.

However, its programming that will save the AM band, not IBOC or C-QUAM. But better sounding audio would certainly help.
______________

Yes, especially since over-the-air AM sounds pretty much like a Western Electric phone transducer these days.

My wife is a KFI junkie and has been struggling with the degratation of their signal since the tower collapse, so I turned her onto their Internet stream. Running through the AUX inputs of a little RCA bookshelf stereo, the KFI stream sounds nearly like FM. She's said she'll never listen on a receiver again if she doesn't have to.

Same story with WNNJ 1360. The internet stream @ 32 kbps is a great way to tune in if the signal craps out. Keep in mind not all tuners a GE SR3's with the wideband switch - listening to the rewound on that made 77 WABC sound like FM.
______________

AMEN!

You totally missed my point. I was complaining about legislation taking away more of Americans' freedom. Your solution is to add another layer of legislation. I wish people held freedom and the right to choose in a higher regard than they do.

It is a fact that if we as a country set our freedom aside, it will be gone and it will not return. Give consideration whenever you consider acts of government that will take away ever increasing amounts of our freedom.
