Brother Wease & Radio-Info losers

I was listening to Wease this morning and they were talking about Radio-Info and the people that post on it. Specifically the people that post about Wease. I believe the term bitter losers was used. I guess I have seen some pretty nasty stuff on here about Wease and I am sure a lot of it was out of jealousy and from right wingers. However, I have posted about the Wease in the past, in the most positive terms. Mostly I have wished Wease well in both his health and profession. I have worked in the radio biz and don't consider myself a bitter loser. I saw the corporate owners drying up all the on air jobs long ago and made a conscious decision to earn my bread elsewhere. And yes, I was pretty successful - skirting with the "big time" a couple times. I think I earned the respect of my peers.

Today Wease did an interview with a woman in Egypt. It was a great interview. He asked all the right questions. A couple weeks ago he interviewed the little girl from True Grit. Another great interview and very tasteful. Wease does involve us with his family, - wife, kids, parents, in-laws -a lot of personal stuff. He makes us feel like we are part of it. So when people on here question how much he makes, I don't find it objectionable as long as it is in good taste. Personally I could care less how much Wease makes. If he makes a million a year, good for him. He deserves it, but it is his personal business.

I guess I find it peculiar that someone who's accomplished a lot in his life (including getting another high-paying radio gig after 'CMF) would even waste one second of his time worrying about what some anonymous folks post on an Internet message board and then calling them "bitter losers".

I'm happy for Wease, not bitter about it. Glad he's done good for himself and beat back his health issues. He worked hard for what he's accomplished.

Sounds to me like it's Wease who's a bit bitter.

"Sorry, I thought Wease was famous outside of Rochester. He was on in Buffalo for a while.
Here's his wiki bio..."

While he's certainly best known in Rochester (and only had a brief late-morning run in Buffalo) he is also known in NYC, where he had a rather successful run on weekends on WNEW-FM during its hot talk days, at the same time he owned Rochester mornings.

Radio-Info should send Alan a check and Thank You card because nobody outside of 27 radio wonks knows or cares about this board. Okay, the GMs check it too, even though they might deny that, with the exception of Doyle who occasionally drops in to set us all straight. But seriously, there wasn't anything better for Wease to talk about? Guess the Break Room won that quarter hour.

Yes Therealjim...obviously the people that would dare have negative comments about Wease would, of course, be "right wing". The loonacy just never stops.

I guess I don't drop in on this board enough to see what the fuss was about.

And it's very odd, because this particular board has a LOT of actual working radio pros among its regulars!

"Radio-Info, where slander means never having to say you're sorry!"
Cute. This board's dodge ball compared to the NY Post or Daily News... or the Cinci board where posters carry knives.

See.....just like that PD told me long ago....PEOPLE ARE LISTENING
Well, at least a poster or two here.

One serious, non-judgmental question. Does Wease dominate morning drive Men 25-54 as he once did years ago, or have stations like WHAM, BEE, DKX and CMF diluted his once mighty share, making him a highly-paid also-ran?

So Wease is upset with some of the posts on here. That's a shame!

He should be happy that people still remember him.

Considering how Clear Channel recently laid off a number of employees (some of them making big money) Wease better start saving his pennies because the corporate axeman isn't finished yet.

Don't be surprised in 2011 if CC clears out a few more employees in order to save a buck.

Hey guys.. I'm the one who brought this site up on the air and Wease responded by saying something along the lines of it being full of ex-radio people who have little bits of knowlege here and there and fill in the blanks with made up info. We were talking about Wikipedia or something and how it's a combination of real facts and completely made up crap and I mentioned this site as being the same thing.. but for us radio dorks.

I had stumbled upon this website a long time ago and to be honest, I was just happy to see anyone actually give a crap about what's going on in radio. Then I got to reading and saw people speculating on Wease "shaking in his boots over the competition" and being "overpaid" so it pissed me off because it isn't true.

Well, your remarks about bitter losers got to me. I was driving along listening to the show that day and thinking how great it was -especially the interview with the woman in Egypt. Then you insulted everyone on this site. I personally know several people on this thread and they are broadcast professionals. I know they respect and wish the best for Wease.

For the person that took the shot at me about the right wingers. Obviously, you have never listened to Wease. He is very left of center. He constantly takes calls from right wingers that insult him. On the most part, he handles it well. But I guess, in some cases, you have convinced me there are some bitter losers on this site.

Wiki kind of sums up why many of us in WNY are not familiar with Wease. Who was listening to WBUF in '04 anyway??

I Thought it was 05', but that doesn't matter. What matters is, talk radio on 92.9 was an insane short lived concept. 6 months.

He is very left of center.
Well he can't be a Marxist, cause a true Marxist wouldn't work for Clear Channel ;D

He's still very strong with his core, although in these competitive times no one can dominate any major demo block to the same degree he once did (or WBBF did way back in the day)...BEE takes a chunk of that demo, probably Legends and PXY do as well, and so does the Buzz.

WHAM skews older than Wease's sweet spot, and WDKX basically owns 12-34s meaning it skews significantly younger, so they're not fighting the same battle. Bottom line--Wease still earns his money, though he has to push harder for it against more rivals than he used to.

I have found this to be the most civilized board on Radio-Info and also the most interesting.

I met Wease once when he came over to WXXI. He seemed like a nice fellow to me. When I heard he was suffering from sinus cancer I sent him a note on Facebook wishing him a speedy recovery.

As for his success on Rochester radio, good for him! It's no small feat to host one's own show for over 30 years. Like I always said, if people don't like someone on radio or TV, then don't listen or watch.
