I don't know if anyone else has noticed this...but on 990 WNTP, Dennis Prager uses Dave Brubecks' "Take Five" and Hugh was using Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight" for music in and out of their breaks.
The interesting aspect of this in my opinion was the superior sound quality of the music on this AM station.
Most of us usually agree that music on AM typically leaves a lot to be desired, but I don't remember even WPEN sounding this good even before the days of IBOC, or WPGR sounding that clear during the days of "Philly Gold Radio." Also, the musical quality of Syd Marks show doesn't sound as great on WPHT as the music I have heard for moments at a time on 990.
Typically on AM talk stations, isn't the emphasis usually on the "lows" in order to accent the sound of the speakers' voice? Also, does anyone know if the current 990 processor is the same as it was during the Wibbage days?
To me, the highs and lows of this jazz music are extraordinarly superior to anything I have heard on AM radio.
Is there a rhyme or reason to this clarity on WNTP or am I hearing something that isn't there?
