Read on another board that one of the all time great national radio personalities who passed through Philadelphia, Bruce Bradley, passed away at age 79 in St. Louis recently. His last major job in the 1980's-90's was at KMOX in St. Louis, but he worked at many other big stations in New York City & WBZ Boston. His time in Philadelphia was at WCAU-AM in the 1970's. For a time they tried to compete as an all-news station against KYW, but in a more 'relaxed' personality news format, similar to WCBS vs. WINS in New York. They called it "News-Real" and Bruce Bradley was in morning drive, between stories he commented on news stories & even told short personal stories - he had a great wit for such a format. His time in other markets was as a disk jockey or talk host but he was great in morning drive here, but people preferred the tick tick tick formatted news on KYW.
