Bruce Jacobs fired

The Nurse and I are sure glad the Dudeboss allows Bruce to continue to do commercials for that attic insulation outfit. To show our appreciation, we've called for a quote on insulating the roof of our '76 Gremlin Levi's Special!

Isn't 55/FYI also still running the weight-loss "testimonials" with Jacobs' sidekick?

I've not heard him shill for Ted's Hot Dogs in a while however...maybe they canceled
after the commotion at the Fybush luncheon there in April* where I kept yelling
"Jacobs is a lunatic!" ;D

*: An event Akbar (and Jeff) failed to show up at, BTW.

If you go back to 1980's when KFYI started talking, the owners at that time said "who's the best local talk show hosts in the country, let's go visit and hire them." Today the saying is "what is the cheapest way to operate and stay alive." KFYI is alive today because of a GREAT foundation laid in the Phoenix market in the 80' and 90's. It is tough to tear a legend down. KTAR has given it the best shot ever to destroy themselves, and they are still alive. So I guess the point is, people will tune in, because of the message not the messenger. Put whoever in mornings, and the right wing listener, will get what they want to hear on KFYI, and LOVE it.

Your statement is quite true up until the last couple of sentences. No amount of money in the world could make me listen to Sean Hannity or J.D. Hayworth, so it's not just a matter of listening to the station for it's past reputation. And as far as KTAR throwing everything they could think to throw at KFYI, there are some things they just WILL NOT throw, Like spontaneity and edginess. Austin Hill and Joe Crummey were awesome on KFYI and they are pretty good on KTAR and sometimes come near to regaininng their former glory. But it breaks my heart to hear them do these dumba** contrived theme shows, especially in times like these when there is REAL news and exciting events to talk about. I don't believe these guys are allowed to be who they really are on KTAR and most of the time it's a big bore of dum dum shows. I've been catching the Beck weekend show the last two weekends and I liked it. I like Phil Hendrie too and of course Uncle Jaybird (PLEEEZE put him on during the day, KTAR!).

Does Mr. Wacki not talk to you Patti? You sound sooooo lonely...... ???

This thread really is populated by creatures from Land of the Lost marooned in The Land That Time Forgot located squarely in the Mississippi Of the Desert. Just go all Rushbo 24/7 and the few listeners left not suffering from dementia will soon collapse in pools of their own drool. Then the station can convert to mariachi music 24/7, which seems to be the dismal future for am radio. ::)

EVERYBODY talks to me, l.t., that's why I like to hear pro talkers on the radio. It's nice to listen! :)

In spite of all the doom and gloom for 5~Fifty's future, sister station KFI in el Lay seems to be doing pretty well in the PPM world. And they're on Ancient Modulation, too! However Nurse Jeff and I continue to feel the move to FM for KFWhyEye is inevitable if the station is to remain competitive in their battle with KT'R. Now wouldn't it be interesting to hear Bruce Jacobs as one of the subs for Aunt Carlos? Of course it'd be interesting to hear Sheriff Joe say he was wrong about anything ::)

I was surprised to see KFI 11 on LA board

25-54:
1. KIIS
2. KLAX
3. KROQ
4. KRCD
T5. KBUE/KBUA/KEBN
T5. KLVE
T5. KOST
8. KRTH
9. KBIG
10. (KYSR) - estimated guess on my part - per the article, in 25-34 adults KYSR beats KROQ
T11. KFI
T11. KCBS-FM (trending down for 6 months)
T13. KHHT
T13. KSCA
15. KTWV
17. KLOS (#3 AM Drive; #16 Middays; #20 PM Drive)
21. KKGO (I saw where David E. had them at 22nd-maybe the allaccess author Anthony Acampora goofed? Not a big deal...)
22. KLYY
27. KSWD (up from #36)

How many years has it been that people have been predicting KFYI demise? Newspaper articles have been written. Hasn't happened yet!!!!!!!!!!

What happened to Bruce's producer? Carolyn? is she still with the station?

Wouldn't it be logical to put Jacbos on in the morning on KTAR? Or does he scare Bonneville with his "act?"

No need as KT'R wins in AMD with news and pulls in a ton of dinero for TMISU. Nurse Jeff and I'd love to hear "Jacbos" on KJZZ just to inject a little energy into their snooze oriented programming!
