Bruce Jacobs guest on 960 Am Vanity Show

Bruce Jacobs, now at a NYC sports station, was a guest on a Saturday 960 AM political show. Jacobs complained about the "politically correct" phoenix radio market. He told people to listen to his 1-4 pm show on the NET on 104.5 fm in NYC. I wonder if he does this show from PHX or NYC?

Actually, Bruce Jacobs is not on in New York City. He works at 104.5 the Team in Albany. To my knowledge, he does his show from Albany, or at least has been there periodically as there was video of him in the studio there at some point. His show is on from 1-4pm ET Monday through Friday and he still does periodic fill-in duties on random shows throughout the country.

The Nurse and I miss Jacobs (..he's just an ordinary guy..) In The Morning on KFWhyEye. He sure knew how to rub people the wrong way...but his take on Phil Gordon was spot on.

Jacobs is a loser...I remember his first week at KFYI where he dared to be himself, and took moderate stances..

That wasn't the schtick that his bosses wanted, so he toed the line and acted like a crazy Rush wannabee.

No thanks, even his sports broadcasts suck.

Loved his laugh.

Loved the way he took on City Hall. Bruce Jacobs would have had a field day with the way City Mgr David Cavazos punkedtaxpayers after they gave him a $78k raise to $315k. So now he's taking a six figure retirement from Phoenix and going right back to work for the puny sized city of Santa Ana, CA for the same salary. Nurse Jeff and I ran the numbers: he'll be easily pulling in a half mil a year. And he gets a set of wheels nicer than our '76 Gremlin!

Jacobs would have been all over the city council for giving him a raise, only to be told hasta la vista, I'm outta here. That's what we miss about Bruce Jacobs!

Do you think Bob Mohan and/or Charles Goyette would've pursued this?

Mohan, yes...recall his love affair with Mary Rose Wilcox. NOT.

Goyette, dunno...if it was part of a larger conspiracy to devalue the dollar and give more power to the Trilateral Commission, then yes!

I heard Jacobs fill-in on KXNT in Vegas, he seemed to melt -down, I do not know if it was an act. I thought he told Rudy K on 960 AM that he was in NY, maybe I thought that was NY NY. Why would he appear on a little show? Keeping his name is the market or friends with the guy at 960AM?

I do not understand the Sharpe Show. It seems the Sharp show is about the Sharp Show. 80% is "relating talk" and 20% real factual content. Of course some studies have shown that the shows that have the least facts are often the most successful.

Doing a remote from Tucson because his wife was attending a conference there? Boy that is putting the listeners first.

Jacobs was never moderate. I remember his first week on KFYI as well---afternoons from 2-4---he replaced Bob Mohan and took calls from angry Mohan listeners. I like Bruce, he did a lot for charity (including the special olympics, troops stationed in Iraq/Afghanistan and various toy/food drives, etc) and seemed to care about the community. We can disagree about his presentation and certainly he said some things that may have been harsh but at least he had passion, which is a trait sorely lacking from most personalities in this market.

Bruce was reprimanded many times for comments he made in the years prior to his arrival at KFYI (both on his national shows and locally). I'm not trying to tell you that you should like the guy, but at least don't have the image in your mind of some corporate puppet type that blindly follows the company mantra.

What difference does it make where a person broadcasts from? If you like a personality why would it matter if they broadcast to your city from the local area or 5,000 miles away?

Obviously, based upon numerous comments you've made on this board, you don't like Jim "Sharp", but the criticism should at least be something tangible.

Nurse Jeff and I like Jim (Ron Burgandy) Sharpe. But he's no Bruce Jacobs. And that's a good and bad thing, we guess ???

Sharpe has a brain, of course he has to throttle it back and act like an angry redneck from time to time to keep the rabble listeners happy.

Bruce? Just a loser. Remember his month back on radio (was it 1060?), embarrassing, he was supposed to do sports, but he couldn't stop acting like conservative talk show host...

(I will give him mad props for being a Zappa fan though)

Boy the picture of him on the website of the station he works at makes him look like he spent the night at the studio, last time I heard him it sounded like he was falling apart. is that an act or is he cracking up for real?
