Bruce Jacobs leaving FSR

Bruce Jacobs just posted this on his Facebook page....he obviously is not a fan of Don Martin and Annie Zidarevich:

"Today is a bitter-sweet day for me.After 8 mostly wonderful years with Fox Sports Radio today I gave 2 weeks notice.that was met with much the same way the last year was-contempt. Since our former boss the great Andrew Ashwood passed away way to soon FSR has been run into the ground by 2 incompetent untrustworthy and backstabbing people.Sad..The sweet part is in 2 weeks I start my next broadcasting adventure."

So thats what happened to Annie Zidarevich. I used to work with her at Prime Sports Radio. I did not like her and she did not like me.

As obnoxious as Jacobs could be, he was also harmless and entertaining.

I just never could figure out what a Jets fan like him was doing in Phoenix and not NYC.

I remember Andrew Ashwood getting ripped periodically on this board before he got sick, but the way FSR is being run now.....Really miss AA!

Bruce Jacobs seemed like he knew his stuff, but I'll admit to feeling uncomfortable when he ventured off into his right-wing political views -- going off on opponents to Arizona's papers, please policy, for example. That kind of stuff probably works well in PHX, but has no place on a national sports show.

Also, he had become a bit of a one-trick pony with all of his sophomoric man-love for the Jets and Mets and disdain for the Dolphins and Yankees.

Glad he is leaving. Horrible broadcastor with little knowledge about sports. He would state predictions and opionions that were outrageous and had little connection to reality.

well said, I agree

Isn't Bruce from New York? Arizona is a hot spot for northern snowbirds to retire or simply move to a warmer climate, so obviously, fans of those teams would keep their allegiances to whatever teams they like.

Looks like Czabe isn't the only new hire by SNR....from Bruce Jacobs' Facebook today:

"In the spirit of this summers big hit "The Decision" I will be announcing later today on FSR my new job destination. This one is called who the heck cares just tell us already goofball..LOL.. I am going to work with Mission Media Group and their sports network Sporting News Radio.Start date is August 30th.My slot will be 4-7pm AZ time.Locally I think 1060am will carry part of the show.very excited to say the least.."

Who is he replacing on SNR?

According to SNR's wikipedia page the 2 Live Stews occupy 1-4 Eastern with 4-7 being a replay of Tim Brando and 7-10 (or 4 to 7 AZ time) Tim Montemayor

so maybe the lineup will look like this:

6a-9a Czaban, 9-1 Brando, 1-4 Stews, 4-7 Montemayor, 7-10 Jacobs, 10-2 Wright

I believe Monty is no longer w/ SNR.

He was just on the air last night. He had been on vacation.

I believe Monty is no longer w/ SNR.

I really hate to see Bruce leave.

He told it like it is. Some of his rants on Bondsy and The Skankees were priceless.

Not true. He was on tonight. If he's intending to leave, then that's different.

I actually liked listening to Bruce Jacobs on FSR, but as one poster put they (FSR brass) made something that was not great into something bad. Great moves by SNR.

Well, it looks like I was right. He is no longer at SNR.

(Via Radio - Info News)

It’s the end of the line for Tim Montemayor on Sporting News Radio as host of “The Monty Show.” He posted on Twitter, “It is official, today was my last show for SNR…looking forward to something new and chasing my dream! Thank you for listening!”
