Bruce Jacobs Out of AMD?

Now that the Chickboss is on Oprah time, no one gives a rats rear end at KFYI. That probably splains why Nurse Jeff and I heard a promo for the Bruce Jacobs show tagged with "..Bruce Jacobs, 8 to 10am on Newstalk 5~fifty KFY~Eye.." Hmmm..that would imply the Nearly Bald One has had his shift extended by 50% YIKES

It seems that McMahon is picking up some steam in his daypart. I wonder if they will keep him around after they start to simulcast on 9.23? This guy is a market legend and deserves to keep the KTAR tradition alive.

He deserves to do a show if he performs... perhaps there are enough geriatrics to keep him employed. This notion about "legacy"... it's a radio station.

OTOH, I see Mike Broomhead formerly of KFNX doing double duty on the weekend at 550.

Announcement soon BJ out of AM. Out of town talker coming. Crummey pressured to move to market. New research: major KT'R traction.

my birdie has said the same thing... although BJ will be on AM for some time (Fox Sports)

The talker is rumored to be a hard core conservative...(what a shock for FYI)...Rusty???????? nah...

and as for Crummey...why would anyone want to leave LaLa land. (lord knows I don't)...but pressured?
The only pressure I can see him under, is whether to go back to nights at FYI...or find himself a new gig on sattle-lyte. radio!

and as for the research... KT'R only had one way to go and that was up! although the FM simulcast is interesting...

will sports stay on the six-two-oh?

Hard core conservative? Can't we have any levity? Rush and Sean with their hard line saw a huge drop in the past year. Although Crummey's schtick isn't doing too well, either.

Why, you ask, would Crummey leave LA? Well, for one, he doesn't have any reason to be there. And because Phoenix is basically just a cheaper LA +10 degrees unless you live in [insert name] Beach. What makes you think he has a sat gig coming up? I'd say he's a talent, but apparently the listeners of KABC, KFYI, and others don't resoundingly agree.

As to sports on 620, isn't that part of the reason for the simulcast, to avoid losing teams to FM stations? Unless 620 did straight talk while 92.3 carried the ball games.

Its just a 45 minute flight for Joe Crummey, and the studio can swing an ad deal with Southwest or USAirways (Nee America West)

The Nurse and I just don't understand why everyone has this hard-on about where Crummey does his show. It flat out doesn't matter as the Evil One knows about the issues that matter and is very entertaining. As far as Bruce goes, every shift he's done the ratings have gone up. KFYI is vulnerable on two fronts: KT'R is a much better station now, and being conservative is no longer cool.

I'm with Dr Akbar on this. It doesn't matter where Joe or anyone else does their show from as long as it's a good listenable show. It amazes me that Clearchannel shows signs of breaking KFYI and giving KT'R all the time it needs to get its act togther. If Crummey is being pressured to move here it must be contract time. Sadly, I think the new empty suit at Clearchannel Phoenix is about to do some real damage. I hope not.

It's not just about talk, but appearances, promotions, sales... If there is pressure for Crummey to move here, consider that the sales department doesn't just sell spots to advertisers, but packages, which include smackdowns to draw people to your place of business. Perhaps Crummey needs to be more available for personal appearances?
Plus, per the Channel 10 collaboration, Crummey's on the morning show every Friday. Have you seen it when he is not live, in studio, and they talk to him over the phone while his image is projected on a screen? Crummy! Apparently, he is not making that 45-minute flight often enough...

Crummy pretending to be local.

To me, it is a question of the station's credibility. If they can pretend that Crummy is doing the show from Phoenix, what's next? Staged fake interviews? Maybe sending an intern to a restaurant on the dirty dining list, and pretend he/she got sick from eating there?

Or have a reporter pretend he is in Florida watching the Discovery land, when he is actually in a back room watching TV coverage. It reminds me of the early 50's when radio stations would "recreate" a baseball game by having an announcer read AP wire reports and and fake the game, with sound effects and all .

Gannett does it with Channel 2 in Flagstaff. On weekends, Caribe Divine will say "here in Flagstaff we reached a high of 89 degrees" ......when you know she is down in Phoenix doing the weather from Channel 12 studios. Why try and fool the viewers? Be honest. What is gained by trying to deceive the viewers?

You may also recall than in pre-tv radio days, programming was mostly network so just about everything was out of NY Philly or LA. I do admit chic boss's idea that Crummey pretend to be in Phoenix was not very admirable. But neither are 8 stations with one news department. While I'm at it, had the occasion to listen to the Peak and the Mix this afternoon for the first time in quite awhile. What in the world makes corporate programmers or advertisers think that anyone is listening to 8 commercials in a row. It just plain awful...especially in the era of the ipod. ???... Oh yeah... where's bruce going? ;D

I don't care where Crummey does his show from, he reads the PHX papers and has a grasp on it.

As for Bruce, I still don't like him, but if he brings in ratings....

Any truth to the rumor that the big time host they are bringing in is Matt Gerson? :D

Give us a break - when's the last time the Nearly Bald One showed up at a Smackdown? His sidekick gets stuck with that gig. He speaks negatively about them..the sponsorsing restaurant and the kind of listeners it attracts. Crummey pitches Arriba, Stephen Jory Subaru and does a great job on the FOX10 Morning Show. Like the Nurse and I said before, we don't care if Crummey does his show from a tattoo parlor in Pico Rivera...the guy is entertaining! Would you rather have Liddy & Hill on in PMD

Hey, you're right! Nurse Jeff and I forgot how those great numbers helped launch the syndicated Liddy & Hill Show on over 400 radio stations in just one year. PLUS look at how they've taken KKNT from nowhere to top 3. And Austin Hill is doing so well, he's got time to guest host on KFI and KRLD. We just don't know why Crummey hasn't thrown in the towel yet :D

Actually, according to my sources, Liddy and Hill are contemplating a name change for their infamous show.

Names currently under consideration:

Pinky and The Brain (in honor of their conquest to take over radio)
Crummier and Crummiest (just when you thought radio couldn't be any crummier...)
Dr. Akbar and Nurse Jeff (immitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?)

Anyone know anything about L & H's producer, Al Summers? (Not certain how to spell his name...)
