Bruce Jacobs to the other side?

Bruce Jacobs to the other side? The other major Valley news/talk side, yes-- not the syndicated show.

As Darrell Ankarlo's whereabouts are unknown by most of us again, Bruce Jacobs will be making his debut on 92.3 KTAR by filling in for Ankarlo today, 9am-Noon.

....'bout time he got a shot at KT'R's Wheel Of Hosts! Just don't expect any Toaster Talk with Bruce as he always comes up with something that'll either make you laugh or burst your bladder. Should Aunt Carlos not return, the Master Blogger has a lot of good talent from which to choose.

......the Buckeye Boyz want to know if one station handle the intelligence quotient of both Bruce Jacobs & Gaydos?

Remember how much he ripped KTAR, the Tar pitt? Its all entertainment, just like wrestling, a job is a job.

Rats! I couldn't listen, I'm at work-please somebody, fill us in on the show. I appreciate Joan letting us know it was good, just need a little more of the details

If anyone thought Bruce might have mellowed after KFWhyEye...he hasn't. Still swingin' at McLettuce, Philiberto Gordon, The Rag and illegals the un-documented. After the first hour, the Master Blogger was probably thinking "...why'd I do this?". Dig him as Nurse Jeff and I do, he aint a fit at KT'R. And the Wheel of Hosts continues to spin.....................................

You know I have to respectfully disagree on both points you make. He took his shots you are correct about that but they were mild compared to the rants of old, I would have been disappointed if he didnt. And his opinions were pretty acurate.
And as for being the right fit, KTAR has become a vanilla, lets all call in on "how are your allergies this year?" kind of format. Why not add a little spice to recipe?
I hope he goes there, I think KTAR would make some noise. That of course is just my opinion. I enjoyed the show.

I was able to catch the last 30 minutes of Bruce's show yesterday; not a bad performance.

I'm willing to revise my previous statement about Bruce not thinking he should do anything other than sports talk. From what I heard yesterday, he did a good job and didn't revert to ranting and raving to make his points. He can be entertaining when he speaks intelligently on a topic.

Now, my biggest concern is that he will eventually step into something like he has done in the past (e.g.- comments about Officer Nick Erfle's wife) and make waves for Bonneville. I don't necessarily see Bonneville as a company that will tolerate much of that.

How disappointing. I've always been a big fan of Bruce and I always will be, even when I disagree with what he says. I do believe that principles and integrity are very important and he very accurately ripped KTAR many times throughout the years and even went as far as to say that he would never work there. I realize a gig is a gig and sometimes you have to do what you don't want to do, but I must say I lost a bit of respect for him.

Principles and integrity? I can see what you're saying, KMGX, but also remember the dramatization of radio, and-- love him or hate him-- THAT'S what keeps people tuned to and talking about Bruce Jacobs.

I wouldn't consider it unreasonable for somebody to "cross the street" from KFYI to KTAR-FM. In fact, they've swapped so many employees of each others throughout the years that everybody knows each other. Lots of friends. Competitors? You bet, and they can and do compete.

I have to agree with Lauren, this biz is like musical chairs, isn't the idea to grab a seat? There are a few personalities in this state that attract people, for good or bad, they do. Bruce Jacobs is one of those people. I like him and hope he stays in radio in Arizona.
Is there even an opening at KTAR? Is he even beng considered if there is?

Perhaps I should clarify.

Both privately and publicly, Bruce--while certainly having friends that work at KTAR--has had rather unkind things to say... now I have no problem with the bravado that's involved in the competitive nature of radio, but when I think of Bruce, I actually think of someone that does have integrity. I just don't see Bruce as a good fit with "toaster talk", he doesn't do topic driven hours, he's not wishy-washy like most of the hosts on KTAR and how can you possibly have credibility with the audience when you're doing something that you've railed against for so long.

Don't misunderstand what I'm saying here, I love Bruce, he's a very charitable, nice guy and always has the attitude of telling it like it is, but PERSONALLY, I know I wouldn't (and haven't) gone against my own principles. I'm not a "hater" nor am I naive to the business, I just think it's a bit of a sell-out. All of that having been said, I might actually have a reason to listen to KTAR if he were to ever be there... mind you I'm not a fan of the station at all for various reasons, but it might actually make them rather relevant.

To speak out of both sides of my mouth for a second though... perhaps Bruce wants to try and stick it to his former employer (ClearChannel) for pulling the rug out from underneath him. I'm not necessarily against that :).
