Same guy from 96X , Y100 and XM ??

Yes indeedie!! It was Bruce. Amazing how stuff gets found out in radioland. I spoke with Bruce last night and he said.......... <whistling>........Naaaaa i'm not gonna say. ;D

Majic needs someone new..Bruce Kelly has already been here and left TWICE... Went to Phoenix and got fired,..XM and got fired..let's get someone new in there.

Bruce Kelly - Uhhh WRONG

He was only in SoFla ONCE. PD of 96X 79-81 and PM Drive Y-100 81-82

In Phoenix 16 Years - not fired. # 1 @ all three CHRs AM Drive.

Left to go to XM in 2000 - RESIGNED in late 2005 because father was dying.
Happily his dad lived thru the ordeal.

I'm on the radio here and hes been my friend since the 96X days.

Quit the lies.

Bill and Stuart (both of you guys BTW; awesome when on the air in Miami; thanks for the good times and memories), can either of you give us, even a morsel, about the future of the Majic Morning Show?

Is it the former big name, or are we going the route of getting someone else? Is it the two of you guys paired up with Donna Davis? :)

When can we general people expect to hear something, if anything?

First off....Bill...Thanks for posting the reply. You took the words right out of my mouth. It just frosts my backside how ill informed some people are. Folks...whether or not you've enjoyed Bruce on the air, face it-he's had a stellar career & has done very well where ever he's been. Dustcourt-I don't know who your sources are, but you've been punk`d on that info.....BIGTIME!

Secondly...Radioguy-Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate it! Radio in South Florida back then was an awesome time to be here & co-workers like Bruce as well as good competitors like Bill made it worth the venture.

As for what's happening at Majic. No, I am not going for the morning show job. I've been told some things on a confidential basis on what's going on there, and with all due respect the source, not say anything. Personally, I have been departed from the mic for 10-1/2 years. My phone rings about 3 times a year to get back in, but in all honesty, I don't want to.

I work a good job (not radio related) for some great people, and I have one of the biggest things the radio business, especially today does not give you: Job Stability as well as a good salary. I'd be a fool to walk away from that.

No, i'm not bitter, i'm just radio old school. You earn your keep & you're loyal to your station. These days, nobody is loyal to the station they work for, because the station you work for isn't loyal to you.

It is what it is.....

OK BILL TANNER- I CONCEDE TO YOUR INFORMATION.

EVERYONE KNOWS THAT YOU HAVE BEEN HERE AND SUCCESSFUL
IN MIAMI FOR DECADES, AND YOU HAVE MY RESPECT..GUESS MY INFORMATION MY INCORRECT.

I STILL DO BELIEVE THAT MAJIC NEEDS SOMEONE NEW THOUGH..NO LIES INTENDED~~~ :D

Dustcourt, I wouldn't get into a mindset of "someone new" because whether the talent is from the market or was from the market or even outside of the market for that matter - the person IS someone new to Majic and would represent a change in the morning show.

And a significant change as well. With the departure of Rick Shaw, Majic begins another chapter. The "new" addition should complement whatever programming enhancements are made. And yes, my gut is telling me the debut of a new morning show will occur around the same time as other changes. If they are smart, their overall sound should be tweaked further. But then I'm just a PD in my own world...LOL...

This string has had some very interesting tid bits. There are no doubt thousands of talented folks across the country, like Stuart Elliott, who have moved on with their lives leaving radio behind. It's sad to see that is the reality. While Stu, for example, has to take care of himself and his financial future, listeners such as myself really miss the way it was. It would have been great to hear Stu return to the airwaves.

And then there's Bill Tanner. Just reading his post - I was able to hear his voice in my mind saying it. Bill left tons of positive impressions on me from what he accomplished on the air. Damn, it would be so cool to hear Bill do another morning show. If I had some spare millions lying around, I'd certainly sweaten the pot for it to happen.

South Florida was blessed with lots of great radio talent over the decades. It truly is a "majical" place.....

OK, I guess I'm in dreamland, but wouldn't it be really cool if there was an FM in South Florida where the DJs from the past could appear. There are so many big names from the great days of South Florida radio... even if they didn't work there 6 days a week, like in the past. I think it would be some powerful programming, personality driven radio... what a concept?

Just like it is cool to hear Rick Shaw on the air, how cool would it be to hear Stuart do a night show? There are all kinds of DJs from the past it would be fun to hear. Would any advertisers be interested in the gigantic baby boomer audience? Could it be pulled off? Who knows!

Mark, you're the greatest bro! You're one of my favorite people in this business, even some 30 years later. It would be awesome for sure. Don't you know anyone who can get a station down here <wink, wink>?? Full time is definately out, but once or twice a week would be a treasure if we could turn the clock back and show people what radio should be like!

With out a doubt. Any chance to work with Footy is worth it. You know that I think the world of him, as a former co-worker as well as a longtime friend. I wouldn't think twice about it. He calls...i'm there. It's that simple ;D
