Call me what you want, but I've got to say that this is one of my favorite intros in a long time! It just is. Everything from the music to how the girl in the promo speaks... it's funny, but at the same time I love it. It beats KZZP's "You're not in Kansas anymore..."
Anyway, I don't even know where to begin on this, so I wont even begin. I'll just say I absolutely love Bruce St James's show THE MOST on KTAR. He has definitely pulled me away from KFYI for the most part and even surpassed Mac & Gaydos in my book. It's not that everyone else suddenly has bad shows in comparison, but it's simply the fact that I think Bruce is best at picking interesting topics for stimulating conversation and knowing how to present them in a fun and interesting manner. Not only that, but he has the ability to do so in such a way that even though he keeps his show simple (without too many fancy slogans or popular quote like sayings..) and uses simple lines like "we're going to talk about it and we'll do it next..", the show still sounds professional and very well prepared. While most people and big names "go out of their way" to sound fancy with lofty talk about noble things, slick transitions, or 'signature sayings", Bruce just cuts to the chase and still "makes a big point using small words", if that makes sense. Then to top it all off, he's like the male version of Judge Judy. In other words, he is the "King of Common Sense". I no longer agree 100% with everything he says anymore (there has been about 2 times I've somewhat disagreed with him on something within the past 2 months), but even so, I can still fully understand the precise point he is trying to deliver and exactly what he means, despite the fact that what he says may not have gone fully with what I believe on a certain issue or didn't please me emotionally. An incredible amount of people cannot separate the two. If people don't like it or don't want to know, hear, or believe it, then the statement automatically becomes evil and the person saying it is bad bad bad, regardless of whether or not it's fact.
So, in conclusion, these are my thoughts on the Bruce St James show IN GENERAL, without pin pointing out any specific topic he's brought up. he definitely knows what he's doing and how to do it, and KTAR made a mighty brilliant choice (as they'd say in the U.K.) at picking him for that time slot. It's perfect.. not so early that you might not be awake or you're in the shower or running around trying to prepare food for work or deal with screaming kids...etc. and not so late that you're at lunch with no radio or not even in the mood for talk radio anymore...etc. It's right there at 9am-12pm, right in the "mood of the morning". Great show, and he does an outstanding job while keeping things down to earth and simple. Everything from his intros to his topics and the style in which they are presented deserve a thumbs up!
