BRUCE PALMER RETURNING TO PROVIDENCE RADIO

Lite Rock 105 Sunday mornings. That's 4 CC alumni full or part-timing on the Trail now.Imagine the CC bashing in that building now.Probably almost as bad as CC bashing on Oxford.

There's also a mention of Bruce talking to another area station for full time work. Jaybeau Jones' last day at WXLO is today. I wonder? Jaybeau is PD and who knows if Bruce would even want to be but I think afternoon drive at XLO would be perfect and allow for more personality than WSRS.

Where's he going? Is this another Citadel 'slash and cut' job like they did at their Connecticut stations?

Listening to what I thought was his last break before 6, he made it sound like it was his choice to leave. He said he's going to be a PD at another station, for another company. I guess his last hour must be voicetracked, because he pretty much said goodbye before 6.

you think mabe there gearing up to have bruce do afternoon drive on lite in the future?? nothing aganist charlie at all....... especially if theres a shake up in that building this year

Charlie has been at Lite now 15 or 16 years. It would nt surprise me if he wants to retire anytime soon. Not that I'm pushing him.Just would nt surprise me at this piont. So a Bruce in the afternoon spot if it were to happen. Not Tomarrow but a good candidate for down the road.

Now that Bruce is at WWLI. They should consider a newer version of Bruce's ARSN. Something uptempo, like he did when he was at WWBB. If Ron Dwyer can do it Saturday nights at Cool-102. Slicing and chopping Lorne Greene's
"Ringo" with Bugs Bunny. WWLI should try it.

according to bruces website he is expected to return to an area station on air full time.. an announcment should be made withen a week or two.... any ideas where ya think hes going.... i dont think its wxlo sence they seem to have replaced j- jones according to there website

I'm sure he's smart enough not to go back to another CC station.
"Fool me once, shame on you..Fool me twice, shame on you again...but fool me 3 TIMES ?"

But this is radio. Fool me 3 times and well OK I'll go for a 4th and things will miraculously be different. That's not an indictment against Bruce but the sad truth about how the desire to be on the air no matter what supercedes all logic and reason. Getting let go is part of the business and the days are gone when there was any stigma attached to it unless you're PD, OM, etc but there are people it just shouldn't keep happening to over and over and over. When it does it's time to pack it in.

WWLI,WCIB. These are the only two possibilities.

Just to add 2 cents....I know Bruce will be PT at LITE and he's also been doing V/O work for Red Wolf in CT.
I also do V/O at Red Wolf after doing 7 years in their AM slot (talk about fool me twice) and Saturdays on LITE so we manage to cross each other every so often. I don't know any other details, but so much mis-information appears in these forums I thought a legit factoid might be appreciated.

Since we have two Bruce Palmer posts going, I'll keep this one going too.....Bruce says on his website that he will be starting in February at The Pike in Worcester (100.1).

The Pike is a jockless station. So what's up with that??

now will he use his given birth name, which is the same as this station, or use his created name...what happened to being an oldies type of guy....I guess he had to sell out...oh well....check the station FCC page a total of 2800 watts WOW

Musicman,

I find it interesting that essentially every one of your 30-some posts on this website have been to attack or defame Bruce Palmer in some way. Is this some kind of personal vendetta you have against the guy ? I'm just curious.

Personally, I think it's a shame that this forum is so often a spring-board to slam people from the seeming guise of impartiality when that is so often not the case.

Heck, in a post earlier today you talked about how all radio is going to the dogs and that XM is the way to go. If you're so down on the medium in general, why do you even waste your time hanging out with us "terrestrial radio" lovers ?

sorry if Radio-Active took it the wrong way......it's just when you been in this business as long as I have been, you get angry to see what some jocks have done to help these station owners forget why we wanted to be part of this business.....back in my time it was an honor to work in radio and for the station owners, somehow that doesn't seem to be the case any more..I know radio has changed so much, but I know that trying to be something your not, leaves a bad taste in the mouths of these station managers and owners...after all like it or not the station you work for made you famous, and you can't forget that ever, remember the radio station owners pay your salary no one else so you owe them for that....and every job has it's limits of pay expected...so to expect more than they can afford. the more likely you will be out of work......
