Bruce Palmer to start WPRV oldies this week

I believe it to be finally a go here.Bruce to start Voice tracking on True Oldies 790 tommarrow at 3 pm.

6-10 Imus
10-3 Scott Shannon
3-7 Bruce Palmer
following Bruce Yankees Baseball

weekends

Saturday morning talk shows remain and Yankees Baseball.

I really think if they are going to run Patriots this fall a 3 hour Gresh sports talk show Sunday mornings 9-12 noon would work.Since the station does drift from its oldies format.

Ken...one problem...Gresh is part of the BCN pre/post game studio show, so he'd have to be in 2 places at once...(and he's been getting shifts at ESPN in Bristol during the morning drive on Sundays in the past prior to running up to BCN)

I forgot about the WBCN deal. I know he's been doing fill-ins for ESPN.I don't know if he's been doing anything permanent for them(espn) though.

Is Bruce still doing morning drive at 100.1 The Pike? If he is gonna v/t afternoon drive on True Oldies 790. I wonder
if he will bring ARSN to 790 ? And maybe his Xmas show as well??

I just heard the first "track" of the day from Bruce on 790's online stream over "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". The processing on the voicetrack is abominable, you really had to listen closely to hear it. On the bright side, they played the full version of that Supremes song, which is a rarity.

Even though I don't think oldies is the best use for an AM signal, it is nice to hear Bruce spinning those tunes again (or at least Scott Shannon's version of oldies). It's especially nice to hear it on the radio as well since I'm in town on business for a few weeks.

According to the website, Bruce is Driving you home on True Oldies, except you'll still be driving home with Scott Shannon on Wednesday. That's right, Bruce is on every weekday afternoon except Wednesday's. If he is voice tracking the shift, do you find it strange they wouldn't have him voice track the entire week.

This may have to do with his car shows.I know he can be voice tracked but hosting an unrelated live event and being on the air simultaneously just would nt make sense.

If Bruce Palmer doesn't do Wednesdays, then how come I heard him just now?

Besides the fact, don't expect Gresh on Citadel...you obviously didn't read his blogs on his myspace. haha I don't think he'll be back there anytime soon.

Citadel is a big company to say you'd never work for....BH, now that I can see forever; but if the right deal came along for him a a Citadel station, I think he'd have to give it a long thought before saying no.

He works for ESPN radio. On ABC Radio Networks. Owned by none other than Citadel....

I think the ESPN network was not part of the Citadel package. I believe they are still an ABC/Disney and Hearst Corp property, part of the ESPN company that has the magazine, all the cable channels, ESPN.com, The ESPN Zone restaurants, etc.....

And the Wednesday thing w/ Bruce (if it ends up happening) is baffling seeing as it doesn't matter if he is doing a car event or not....(sheesh, Jessica is going to different Dunkin Donut locations during her show on Pro-FM and yet magically gets there and back to the studio in less than 10 minutes !?! (Beam me up Scotty)).

You are correct... none of the ESPN or Disney Radio properties were part of the sell off to Citadel.

Well, I guess they meant that Bruce's off day is Thursday, because today in the 3 PM hour, I am hearing Scott Shannon.

But I don't think the ABC Radio Networks had anything to do with the ABC owned radio stations....WABC was an ABC owned radio station; but the network stuff run out of Penn Plaza (among other places) were seperate part of the ABC/Disney corporation (Citadel didn't acquire the Radio Disney neetwork, for example)

From WikiPedia (I know not always accurate... but this article has sources):

In 2005, ABC began to explore the sale of its radio division. The two leading competitors for the purchase of the network, which included twenty-two of ABC Radio's top stations, as well as ABC's talk and music networks, were Bala Cynwyd-based Entercom Communications and Forstmann Little & Company's Citadel Broadcasting unit. Citadel was chosen as the top bidder and the deal to purchase the stations and the network was struck in February 2006.[2] The deal did not include Radio Disney or ESPN Radio, or the five ESPN Radio stations currently owned by Disney. However, Citadel owns several ESPN stations in small to mid-size markets including WYOS in Binghamton, New York, KKML in Colorado Springs, and KESP in Modesto, California. Disney's ABC News unit will also still produce ABC News Radio programming for distribution by Citadel.[3] Despite the change in ownership, ABC Radio still lists "ESPN Radio" as part of the ABC Radio family, although Radio Disney is no longer considered so.[4]
The acquisition of ABC Radio by Citadel Broadcasting was officially completed on June 12, 2007.[5]
Shortly after the ABC/Citadel merger, the "FM" network was reactivated. It now provides an hourly two-minute newscast, similar in format to when the network formerly operated. Those newscasts end with the "ABC News" branding.

In other words, everyone is right! :)
