Bruno. Anyone know what is going on?

I read his Deadspin interview and it seems he's been blackballed by the morons at Sporting News.

ESPN should hire him back, but they're too "safe" I thought he'd wind up in SF at KNBR, but I still bet he's going to do another national show somewhere.

Maybe he should syndicate as a "stand-alone" show and get away from the network garbage. All 3 force stations to carry unwanted crap if they get the few shows they want and Bruno away fro, that nonsense will be able to get any station, any where to carry his show without the network pressure to carry worthless stuff no one wants.

I think that he would like to do a stand-alone syndicated show, but is there really a place for him in daytime? While
he can blame SNR, it's quite possible than Tony's worst enemy is Tony. He has burned a lot of bridges in the business.
To get syndicated I think he needs to go the evening route like "Ferrell on the Bench" where he could fill the entertainment void that currently exists.

May Jim DeCastro at "The Content Factory" in Chicago will come up with a plan to launch Bruno in syndication as did Dan Patrick from the same firm.

Patrick's done ok with the deal.

Maybe lightning will strike twice.

I had the exact same thought.

I could easily see a schedule of either (all times eastern):

* Dan Patrick (9-12 AM), followed by Tony Bruno (12 - 3 PM); or

* Tony Bruno (6-9 AM), followed by Dan Patrick (9-12 AM)

Maybe Jones Radio Networks (now Dial Global/Triton-owned) has room for Bruno on their roster for a sports talker. They're one of the leading independent syndicators in the country.

I don't know where Barth Gimble gets his bridge burning info, but that was cleared up I thought very well in his DeadSpin interview. Bruno was the man at Fox Sports Radio, got them stations, credibility and then when it was time to reward him, they tried to cut his pay 150k. Sporting News wouldn't have been sold for 20-dollars if they didn't scam Bruno into working there for 3 years while Paul Allen unloaded it to some magazine hayseeds. He gave them affiliates they have never before seen and will never see again and they didn't even offer him a deal? How is that his fault? Check the radio landscape. Companies have gone cheap and are now run by suits whose only job is bottom line, not quality. We live in a make more with less world and Clear Channel started it by wiping out FM jocks with voice tracking all over America. Now major sports talents like Bruno can't find work in the vast wasteland of sports talk radio? I don't get it.

That Deadspin interview was quite interesting. His ex wife is cleaning his clock and he don't even have a job! He's afraid to sell his house because he would lose money and therefore can't take a job making such and such amount of money a year!

You don't think that Tony Bruno has burned bridges? His problem is that he is too full of himself. He thinks that he is the franchise. As
many astute radio people have said, sportstalk radio is narrow-casting to begin with, and there is little opportunity out there for anyone in
this field. I personally enjoy Tony Bruno much more than Jim Rome or anyone on ESPN Radio, and he would be much better than Mike Tirico
and friends in the afternoon. However, no one seems to want to take a chance with him. There has to be more than meets the eye.

I'd love to see Bruno back on ESPN, but ESPN radio thinks Tirico and VP are good.

I wish there was some way Bruno and Silciliano could reunite that show was great. I am sorry, but Shemon and JDub? come on! FSR has a few good hosts, but they are all in wrong time slots. Maller, Czaban, and Fricke.
