Bruno Sammartino, a professional wrestling superstar from the late 60's/early 70's, has
passed away at age 82.

A longtime Pittsburgh resident, Mr. Sammartino grew up in Italy where he and his family were forced to hide out from the Nazis in remote mountain caves during World War II. After coming to the US he became a very successful pro wrestler, being a fixture on TV broadcasts of the time such as Pittsburgh's Studio Wrestling with Chilly Billy Cardille.
Mr. Sammartino was a highly visible and well-respected member of the community
here in Pittsburgh.
