Brunswick's am 900 WCME has a website

Is this station still located in the funky little shack on River Road? I worked there 3 times: once in the WKXA era and twice during the WCLZ days. Honestly, I have great memories of the place.

Nick--that building on the River Road is long gone now. I, too, have great memories of the old WCME. Did mornings in the late 60's. The new owner is, I believe, still looking for a new home for the station. Will be nice to have the old call letters back on the air, hopefully soon.

Chad Gilley was the music director at 'CLZ in the early-mid 90's. I was amazed that he could arrange for significant artists in AAA and blues to find that little dirt road in the woods and play live on the air.

Magic Dick and J. Geils, Sara McLaughlin, blues performers John Hammond, Tab Benoit and Eddie Kirkland were a few who set up and played in our dumpy little production studio.

WCLZ at that time was a middle -of -the- pack performer in Portland ratings, but it certainly had a vocal, loyal group of music lovers who just loved the station. It wouldn't be a stretch to say it had a certain "cachet."

I've done radio for 40 years - including a few in top 10 markets, and those 3 years that I spent on-air at 'CLZ were among the most enjoyable of my career.
