A must read is the article by Emily Esterson about KUNM in New West called "When Mediocre is Good Enough - How Not to Run a Radio Station"
It is online here: http://www.newwest.net/index.php/main/article/4476/
These guys make KAGM look like a tight, professional outfit!
Choice quote one : "...evidence is emerging that the dysfunctional nature of the station, which serves nearly 100,000 listeners, is far worse than even pessimistic critics might have thought. The problems appear to be rooted in both a bureaucratic university culture that's accepting of a certain level of mediocrity, and in an entrenched management team that has few incentives to change its ways and offers little to motivate the rank-and-file."
Tales of multiple lawsuits and more.
Choice quote two: "Development Director Mary Bokuniewicz (aka Mary B) offers little training or support for the employees who work for her. Worse yet, Bokuniewicz’ personal life seems to have encroached on her employees. Shelton says that about a month after he was hired, Mary B. asked him to help her take care of her personal debts using his individual bank account. Shelton, who is a personable, soft-spoken man, says he had no personal friendship with Mary B. and was astonished by the request. Fearing he could be fired at any time because he was still in his hiring probation period, he agreed to Mary B.’s request."
Holy crap! That is unbelievable!
