I imagine it's in name only: Andelman wouldn't bring M&J back, even if they would return. Not the '70's anymore.

Excellent. Always liked Sports Huddle.

I wonder if it'll be the old Sports Huddle, which I loved growing up, or a parade of oddsmakers, gambling experts, casino people and people from Fuddruckas, etc... And if he has Jack from Lynn as a co-host, that would be painful... I'm sure Sid Diamond will be a regular. So will the Colonel.

Eddie is well past his prime. The last few months of his show on WWZN, on the rare occasions I tuned in, sounded like "The Daily Racing Form Report"...

I think one of the charms of the old Sports Huddle was that it was just three hosts who were just fans, espousing on sports. Once Eddie went full time, he was a media person espousing on sports. Then it became political, business took over, yada yada.

I think that one lesson from the Theo Epstein mess is that the sports media are no longer just observers and commentators, but that they are part of the story itself. Once you are part of the story, your comments are bound to be self-interested. Add to that the inherent self-interest in getting a check from the team you're commenting on (Globe) or upon whom you rely for a flagship broadcast contract (EEI/Sox). We are definitely no longer listening to three fans kicking back and yucking it up.

Maybe now that Eddie's out of the game he can bring that back. When he was good, he was very very good... I wish him the best with it.

Eddie Andleman is great - and is a Boston institution. He has taken too
many hits on this board in particular. He took a gamble with the 1510 AM
thing and probably got some good green. As it turns out, Ted Sarandis didn't
flip and he's now on WEEI doing only college sports.

Wonder if Dale & Eddie would still be a team? Which makes for a good topic
for another thread.

Has anybody ever heard andelman reference Jimmy or Mark? I haven't, and from some things I've heard, their relationship didn't end well. I think they are on speaking terms but it will be interesting to see if they even make a token appearence on the reincarnation of the show. I have no interest in EA's eating, family, financial, gambling,or health stories. McCarthy and Whitkin might take precious minutes away from those pressing matters.

correction.. Eddie WAS great or at least pretty good but that was a long time ago. He's been on a decline for years and, as I've said in other threads, his last few years at the Zone were unlistenable dreck, especially after Jags left. It became Daily Racing Form and Gambling Tip radio...

to say nothing of the fact that his show will become an endless commercial for the Hot Dog Safari... yes, I know it's a good cause and he should be commended but it'll be months of hype. Much like WEEI is hyping the "Whiney Awards"... Feb. 28 can't come soon enough although I'm sure there will be some back-patting after that...

No Witkin or McCarthy, but Bill Fairweather who owns the Greatest Bar
in the North Station. Last year, he signed on as once a week co-host
for Andelman's show on the Zone which was broadcast from his establishment.
The new show is likely be an endless promotion for the Greatest Bar as
it was on the Zone every week.

Good, the Bitter Hateful Radio Host can host another show I won't listen to on a station I never visit. He used to be good, but that was a LONG time ago.

Does anyone go to those Whiney awards, other than the people who call? I can't see the point of going to such an event if you're not a part of it, and in the grand scheme of things, there aren't too many who are a part of it, are there?
