New Boston Radio Watch (bostonradiowatch.com) notes that David Lee Roth's new show on WBCN is having a spring break so it can be re-tooled; their own DJs fill in here. He mentions
a spoof website put up by WTKK's Michael Graham poking fun at Tom Reilly and
reprints some emails about 'RKO, etc.
One reads, in part, "I thought DLR was bad.. wow! On the day that Neil -the husband of the year- was arrested, RKO was talking about potato chips.. - I kid you not-!!!" Meaning Taste of Boston tonight. I wonder if there will be
a change now that Wolfe is PD, or do they intend to serve the specialty show
audience? 'TKK does have Severin opposite "Taste" and he deals with national
issues. Then at 10 Savage, delayed, vs. Ingraham, also delayed. Meanwhile
Paul Sullivan has the only locally based, issues-oriented show (at least
during the 8-10 hours). Kind of a low-key voice compared to most talkers
(which some find refreshing, but I used to jokingly refer to him as
Paul Sominex!)
"My point is, do the radio exec's realize that there is a vast audience that can't listen much - if at all- during the day?"
Good point...I would have expected them to maybe do an issues-oriented show
7-10 (be it Savage or someone local, better yet)--though yeah, it'd be pre-empted often by Celtics...and maybe throw "Taste" on at 10. Who knows.
(And I'm just discussing what 'RKO could do, not attacking them or anything.
Who knows, maybe "Taste" will do well in the ratings, etc., though my own
"tastes" don't include a show like that. But that is just me.)
