BRW: Severin back to Boston only (Jay _HAD_ issues nationwide...)

Stations can take Jay's Boston show if they want it. Doubt many will.

You may find it interesting that Westwood is paying some stations....

In the last year, fine. Although I would argue that there have been very few successful right-wing shows since the reinvigoration of the format shortly after 9/11, with perhaps the exception of Jerry Doyle (although many of his "225" affiliates are weekend-only or small market stations). Glenn Beck (late '01/early '02) and Bill O'Reilly (April '02) are perhaps the most recent truly successful shows on a national level, while others, like Ingraham, Savage, and to a lesser degree Boortz, already had shows that have since taken off. It's really no surprise that there's been no hit shows in some time because there are so freaking many of them.

Severin is trying to spin that his show didn't fail nationally, that he wasn't fired, and hey, maybe he wasn't...
maybe he just came to an agreement with W1/CBS that it would be best for him to go back to Boston and do
an afternoon show on just one station. Meanwhile, his site is still up listing his stations, etc, and blog entries/
"on tonight's show" entries that haven't been updated for a month...because the show no longer exists nationally (unless his former stations wish to pick up his WTKK show, I guess)

in place of Jay:
In Prov. RI, Hannity moves to 7 pm and they add Mark Levin 10-mid. on WPRO 630
Philly's big talker adds a local host at 7 pm, Anthony Mazzarelli

As I understand it some Severin affiliates ARE picking up his afternoon show. Not sure how long they'll want to though...

...if they were given the choice between Hannity or Severin they'd prob take Hannity--better known personality, second only to Rush in listenership (unless they take Severin at 3 and tape delay Sean...)
