BRW: Spanish radio; the ESPN switch is...?

Not too well, though 890 had Felger (IIRC) who now is doing well at 98.5...a couple yrs ago WEEI
picked up ESPN affiliation (right around time of baseball playoffs) and now they have it overnights, etc. (WRKO was picking up some NBA playoff action via ESPN what with Sox on EEI). ESPN
picking up stations in smaller markets (VT/NY Champlain Valley 101.3; Keene & Portsmouth NH, Springfield MA, New Bedford MA)

BRW says that 890 and 1400 are expected to switch to ESPN in a few weeks.
The Globe article says the switch will be "later this month"

By ESPN, I assume that you mean ESPN Deportes. Is that correct? Since 890/1400 already flunked out with ESPN en Anglais, it wouldn't seem to make a lot of sense that they'd try it again. Or would it?

This is an update of an old post--from June 17, 2005 (something people do on occasion, finding an old post and bringing it back). From exactly 6 yrs ago. As it turned out, a "soft launch" of ESPN on 890 and
1400 (in English) happened in late July of 2005. A post I did on boston-radio-interest:

http://lists.bostonradio.org/pipermail/boston-radio-interest/2005-July/006433.html

>>A small item in yesterday's Globe mentioned there would be a "soft
launch" of ESPN 890 and 1400 with the Cubs-Cardinals game last night. Sure enough, there
it was (after some stunting, as I understand)..
They ran promos for their shows, including Mike and Mike, Dan Patrick, etc.

ESPN 890/1400 lasted until Sept. of 2009, when it went dark. A month later,
WEEI picked up the ESPN (Eng.) affiliation with baseball playoffs. So, this isn't a case of
"890 and 1400 trying it again" (this time in Spanish), it's a resurrection of an old thread

bostonradio.org's archives show that ESPN 890/1400 introduced its new format in Oct. of 2009.
I think 1400 came back first (as noted at the time by Gary Francis) followed by 890, both in
Spanish. I think 1400 came back in Oct. and 890 not till Dec.?

Checked out the page for WAMG 890 on bostonradio.org (station history). It hasn't
been updated since '06 when it was still ESPN.
