Bryant University Radio

Does anyone know who's running things radio-wise at Bryant (if anyone?)

Bryant holds a CP for 90.7 licensed to Danielson, CT. The permit is set to expire this August and I haven't seen any sign of work at the tower site. I know a non-profit that may be interested in the CP, but I'm looking for a place to start.

When the school gave over control of WJMF-88.7 to WGBH, wasn't the idea supposed to be that the school/students would be doing thier thing by way of internet streaming?

Maybe WGBH is the one holding the CP now?

It's still held by Bryant. The signal is a north-south oval that straddles the CT/RI state line, and doesn't hit Providence. It'd really serve northeast CT well (That's where I'm at these days) but I don't think WGBH would have an interest in it, it would really be stepping on the toes of CT Public Radio's WNPR and satellites.

Bryant's student station was also supposed to be available via the HD2 of 88.7, but there has been no HD2 for what has to be over a year now at this point.

Bryant University still holds both WJMF and the CP in Danielson. AFAIK, they have no plans to build out that CP, nor any plans to transfer it. Looks like it was always a defensive filing; you get it to deny it to anyone else. And good for them, I say. The NCE dial is already wildly overcrowded in RI.

You can try calling the President's office with an offer but I doubt you'll get very far.

Also, any non profit that wants that CP has stars in their eyes. It's pretty useless as it's a tight DA pattern that covers mostly trees and part of I-395. The 90.7 signal is also hemmed in tight by WSMA, WICN, and WBUR. Also WRIU to a certain degree, too. And co-channel WJHD in Portsmouth RI will blow away any chance of the CP being heard anywhere near Narragansett Bay which is where all the population is.

Bryant's student station was also supposed to be available via the HD2 of 88.7, but there has been no HD2 for what has to be over a year now at this point.

I doubt the students really care. HD Radio receiver penetration in Rhode Island is nil. They're reaching a lot more people through their webcast.
