Tom and Gerry: would that be the new morning team on 'RKO? Who knows. Boston Sports Media wonders:

Tom ( The hell with Mattapan ) and Gerry ( I lost my voice on the Metco School bus ) . The Grand Wizzard Morning show is not what Boston need .

Just wondering, but unless BSMW is one of the few still actually drinking the Maloney Kool-Aid. why would anyone think that Entercom would do that? D&C has been a rating juggernaut since they replaced Imus, and it certainly wasn't on the strength of John Dennis, plus Finneran is trending up in the right demos. So what would be the point? Take a chance on ruining a winning combo to fix a licence-to-print-money morning show that wasn't broken in order to help a competing show that is showing its own signs of life?

I'm sure BSMW had a reason to speculate on this, and I'd sure like to know what it was.

You have got to be kidding ! I have seen nothing to show that Finneran is trending up....can you show us ?
 
btw speaking of WEEI I mentioned on the northern New Eng board that I wonder if WEEI might consider
syndicating its sports talk shows to stations in Northern Eng. They do have Entercom-owned stations in
Worc., Western MA, and RI, and Jason Wolfe was quoted in a Globe article, IIRC, that they may consider
taking their product to northern New England as well...

..yes, they could buy stations but what about idea of syndicating talk shows? See my post on Northern
New England board (would people in Burl VT rather hear New England based sports talk? see post for more)

as for whether or not Entercom would consider partnering Callahan with Finneran who knows? Talk of
them hiring Finneran was poo-pooed by some here, myself included. I didn't think they'd actually go through
with it, but they did! So who knows.

One of the comments on SaveWRKO.com said that Finneran's show started off fairly weak but did pick
up some listeners from month to month. Look for the post:

and the reply by "No Spin Zone". It says the numbers are "below last year" but are trending up
(from the January numbers). I think that's what he meant*.
(still nothing to write home about...yet)

*--as in: "Last year, the Devil Rays were 5 games behind at this time. This year they were
8 games back a couple weeks ago, then 7 games back last week, and they're 6.5 games back
now. Lower numbers than last year, BUT trending up" :)

Monthly Breakout of WRKO AM Drive A25-54 Numbers:

Jan: 1.2 share/33,300 listeners (Scotto)
Feb: 1.6 share/39,100 listeners (Scotto and Finneran)
Mar: 1.9 share/42,600 listeners (Finneran)[/color][/color]

Now, I consider A25-54 to be the 'right' demo and from 33 to 43 to be 'up'..

YMMV.

I also saw this post, so thanks to TSB for taking the time to add it here. The writer of that post did add a disclaimer that monthly ratings are not enough to clearly state a trend, which, in my view, adds to his credibility.

btw TSB, I find your posts fact-based, rationale and helpful overall, so I look forward to more.

P.S. I also liked the Maloney Kool-Aid comment - a little color commentary is always welcome if followed up by facts :D Merci.

Don't mean it as an insult but you sound like you're just pushing 'garbage' around.
He/She speculated about this and that. It's fun to speculate like they do on BSMW or savewrko, but you and they make it seem like something's up which it isn't. (and please take care of your carriage returns. It's a pain to read your posts). Next week they'll be speculating that Joe the Metco Gorilla will be the new co-host with Dennis.

Honestly, why would WEEI be breaking up their #1 show on the #1-billiing station in the market? Do you think WFAN in NYC would ever split up Mike and the Mad Dog now that they have to fill a hole in the morning?

Callahan is taking time to take care of his voice. He'll be back. Paul Harvey completely lost his voice few years ago. He needed surgery. He came back and is still working today.

Thanks, I appreciate that. It's getting tougher, since Maloney is no longer posting my responses to his babblings on SaveWRKO. I guess he found my questions were just too hard, which is surprising coming from someone who fancies himself as The Radio Equalizer. I'd think he would have been champing at the bit to put me in my place with his rapier wit and command of the facts. Most of what he allows now are just the usual sycophantic responses from the usual brain-dead suspects.

A number of us are kicking around the idea of posting the SaveWRKO material to this site and just slugging it out free from Maloney's, shall we say, 'editorial control'. It would make for a lot more interesting discussion than what's actually happening there.

It might be fun to do a point by point here, but I wouldn't want Maloney to get the impression that what he posts is anything more than urinal gossip or his fantasies. Wait a minute, do guys gossip by the urinal? I've heard not. Okay, water cooler gossip. :D
