BTVN REPORTS TODD GROSS FIRED FROM 7!

It would be a coup for WHDH-7 if they were to bring back Schwoegler (sp?), but I don't think they'd ever do it.

As for Todd Gross' forecasting skills, I think they were on a par with those of Leonard, Schwogeler, Dick Albert, and the recently-canned Ed Carroll (by the way, I think WBZ-4 made a major mistake in letting Carroll go!).

WHDH has made a huge blunder in letting Todd Gross go. Maybe the biggest blunder any ownership or management of Channel 7 has made since the "Blue Hill Volcano" story!

Scroll down to message #33. That's why I had to keep my mouth shut. Todd wasn't ready - though I had spoken to him, I respected his wishes and held off. I was just happy to have the story itself first; if I get Todd on record first - great! - but I have more respect for the good folks in the Boston media community than to go publishing the contents of e-mails which they had asked me to keep confidential. Expect to hear more from Todd - on BTVN and elsewhere - either today or tomorrow.

In 2004, WHDH was still #1 biller for Boston TV advertising although
WCVB has narroewed the gap. Even if WCVB overtakes WHDH in revenue this
year, it's still an extremely valuable TV property in a Top10 market.
It's still a moneymaker for Ansin even if NBC prime sucks.

And seeing that the Ansin family is located around Miami,

NBC prime will turn around. Every business goes in cycles. This is
their downtime but all they need is one or two big hits and they'll
be back.

As for WHDH, it's alone probably worth over a billion dollars now. Not
bad for 215 million dollar investment Ansin made in 1993. You don't become Top 100 wealthiest people in America by cashing out on your successful investments.
You hold on to them and print money. Ed was born, grew up and spent a lot of his life in Woostah. His family had owned a bunch of mills around Mass for years. His family is connected to the area and they visit very often.

Boston TV Man:

You have good ethics.

You seem to be a very classy individual.

I'm looking forward to seeing more comments from you on this board in the future.

Nat. Weather Service?

I wish they would. How much of media weather is just repackaged, prettied info from the Nat. Weather Service?
