I was told bubba is #1. How can this be? has he even be on the air long enough? when do they take ratings? I thought they sent little "calenders" to random people, they kept them for awhile, sent them back,an were tabulated. seems kind of fast to me. ???

Its too early ( I would think ) on ratings cause the first quarter isnt done till March31st? Anyways, he might get it up to #2-#3 (morning slot)but who knows about #1. 102.5 will then begin to lag out on the ratings cause people just dont want to hear Led Zep every hour along with the usual other 20 band rotation only. I dont see 102.5 getting higher than 3.5 for the 1st quarter but then dropping below 2.5-3 by the 2nd and 3rd quarter unless they do a music format change to more harder classic rock and more bands.

Ok "scottsvb5" ...you've made your point about the music on 102.5 in the other threads. No need to re-hash it here.

Now, about this trend... 102.5 did get a nice bump thanks to Bubba but remember this is just a trend. However, I believe you're gonna see em go up a lot more before Summer. Regardless of what music they play the rest of the day, a strong 6-10am rating along with average numbers the rest of the day will carry a station to damn near the top of the list. Just ask any of the former Stern stations that pulled great "overall" numbers till he left for Sirius. Take a look at the numbers for 98Rock... they're not good.

Not always true. Bob & Tom in Indianapolis have been #1 for years and years but after 10 am, <poof> a big chunk of their audience switches to their music of choice.

Bubba had an amazing trend. Let's see if he can maintain it.

I heard Bubba say that he pulled a 14 share adults 25-54 and that 102.5 went from 12th place to 1st place in January in the last trend. He says MJ dropped from 1st to 4th. I also heard Cowhead say he was number 1 with a 6 share.

I heard that in January, the last month of the trends, that 102.5 was number 1 all day, adults 25-54.

102.5 will greatly improve in the mornings and has done so..also I love listening to Cowhead. Bubba will always have good morning ratings and Cowhead will also do pretty well, especially if they let him put on his own music choices instead of the music directors. Still the music is weak for the rest of the day and night and by the 2nd quarter...ratings will drop again.

In Ft. Meyers....ahahahahhaha now that was funny !!

They should give you a show ...

I like cow head and galvin,or calvin iam not sure. so i guess a "trend" is a quick poll, nothing to scientific. I was just wonder'n about bubba being #1. congrats to him and crew. Tampa has been needing his show back for awhile.

I bet cowhead is number #1 in "quick breaks". He has bunches of those.

I dont mean to sound like a jerk or anything, but maybe listeners could be of benifit to you pro's.

DtotheJ - That was some funny stuff!

At the end of the day, 'HPT have done the right thing. With Bubba and Cowhead, they will lock up AM & PM drive. They could play Chinese/Gong music in Mid-days and nights, and it won't matter. You win AM/PM drive and it's over.
The next couple of trends/books should be very interesting. Talent beats music everytime.

Its nice hearing great DJs and the shows they do. Is that the music trend? Like MTV by going away from the music? What will radio be like in 5 or 10 years. Mostly Morning, Midday, and Afternoon drive shows? Goodbye to music on the most part during the day I would think, especially since they bring in the ratings. Still though, when the station plays the same crap inbetween, people do change the station and sometimes dont come back when the commerical ends.

I noticed that none of the people that support the arbitron rated # 1 morning show has posted yet. Are they still in shock or are they to busy looking lining up a new gig for May when the book comes out? ;D

Trends are roughly equivalent to 90 days, overlapping. In Tampa, the most recently released "trend" would have been Phase I of the Winter book, covering December/January/February... I think.
