Bubba Bo has been fired!

CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WLW-A/CINCINNATI has fired AMERICA'S TRUCKING NETWORK weekend host ERIC "BUBBA BO" BOULANGER after guests on the show fired up a propane grill and cooked in the studio. BOULANGER told the CINCINNATI POST that "(u)nbeknownst to me, one of [the guests] had a propane grill and fired it up in the kitchen area of the building. I didn't handle the situation very well, and I got fired over it ... They were my guests. It was my fault. It was my responsibility. It wasn't what I did. It was what I didn't do."

Any thoughts on this?

Rule #1: Never invite outsiders into the station.

Rule #2: If you choose to ignore Rule #1, at least make sure they are within your sight at all times so they can't do any damage.
 
Or Blow up the building....or get fire alarms going off in the middle of the night.

I wish I had the tape running when Bubba was on the air as the alarm went off. I thought it was funny when he mentioned that the propane grill on the 6th floor set off the fire alarm. Late Saturday night, they were probably the only people in the building. <P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by microbob on 07/08/05 01:28 AM.</FONT></P>
 
I was told ... and I can't say for sure if it's true ... that Bubba might not have been fired if he'd been honest about what really happened. He denied to his boss that he knew the guys brought up the grill, but security camera tapes showed him actually helping the guys with it on the elevator.

Sat/Sun was a best of. I'm sure they'll be looking for a weekend/fill host. Might the ruckin' Bozo himself make a reappearance (he has a show on XM's Open Road channel).<P ID="signature">______________

I am sorry for Bubba Bo but somewhere in all of this I see a redneck joke coming on! Email it to Jeff or Larry see what they can make of it. Sorry Bubba Bo but through all bad you have to find something to laugh about to keep your sanity in the world of broadcasting.

Dumb move but don't you think there has to be more to the story? Sounds like they were looking for something to get him on. He'll probably wind up somewhere else in the Clear Channel juggernaut.

I'd say that bringing in an uninvited guest into brand new studios where a massive amount of damage could have been done by said guest because he was firing up a grill is cause for termination without worrying about other possible reasons.
