I guess Bubba may have been a format stunt with a tragic end.

BTW, the Wikipedia entry says that the station has been operated by Cox (via an LMA) over the past few weeks. Is that true?

Wouldn't surprise me considering that UGA sports moved to 105.1 from Cox's 103.7 Chuck FM for the holidays. However, a poster on another thread appeared to have some inside information that suggested there was no Cox LMA.

Just a basic, typical AC Christmas mix this morning, no spots and no imaging except for "Lake Lanier Islands 105-1".

Is 105.1 now going to be the soundtrack for Lake Lanier Islands instead of Chuck?

Never send a Bubba to do a man's job! :D

They must have violated the new FCC policy (47 C.F.R. § 1.955(a)(1)) which requires that no more than 41.27% portion of any hour can be by artists who had long hair at the time of recording. All that Metallica, Black Sabbath and Whitesnake...I'm surprised that the Commission didn't make them shut down earlier.

Also, the 'mismatched mix of southern rock and country' is a one-way ticket to troubletown with the GAB.

Those boys better watch their tails.

Stunting! Does anyone REALLY believe that a station would be called "Bubba"??? LOL However, what a great way to draw attention to 105.1 being back on the air than to join forces with Lake Lanier Islands Magical Nights of Lights! All those vehicles tuning in for the Christmas music and continued listening through the holidays until the final format launches....Absolutely a great way to garner attention to your frequency!

It sounds like the net net is 105.1 is doing the Lake Lanier Islands Christmas programming instead of Chuck, so Chuck can keep to its regular programming, including UGA sports.

Interesting that nobody else is doing all-Christmas yet this year except for the Fish.

Not really.

Political correctness has won once more.

The post-Bubba/post-stunting format appears to be Soft AC/Oldies, as "EZ 105-1".

See http://atlradioinsider.blogspot.com/2013/01/bubba-goes-easy-with-christmas-music.html.
Probably not as soft as an MORish true soft AC, but definitely softer than a current AC. And the playlist is mostly 70s and 80s, with some 60s sprinkled in ("We Can Work It Out" by the Beatles). AC was softer back then (there really wasn't such a thing as "hot AC"). I guess the best description would be classic AC hits from the 60s-80s. Sounded like Warm 100 or 94Q except for the large timeframe. Also worth mentioning was some AC country crossover ("Feel So Right" by Alabama).

Since ATL has holes with oldies classic hits and soft AC, this was probably a good choice for them.

And there's a translator in the works at 97.7 that could give Mall of GA and Buford a better signal soon. Look for it on the big tower near Friendship and I-985.

Any details? How much power and any nulls?

This should answer your questions. The application BMPFT-20121129BNF is for a good strong signal over Gwinnett. It will be multiplexed with 93.5 W228CA after approvals. I don't think the 93.5 changes are applied for yet, so they aren't in any database, but that is the plan. Both 93.5 and 97.7 should have the same coverage when everything is approved and built-out.
