BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE BREAKS HIS SILENCE ON 97X

Tampa Radio station 97X (WSUN – 97.1FM) invites one time Tampa radio leader Bubba the Love Sponge into its studios. WSUN Morning show, The Morning X with Fisher and Boy will conduct a live interview Thursday morning, March 9, 2006 at 7am. For the first time since his firing from WXTB (98rock) on February 23, 2004, Bubba will have the chance to finally speak to the Tampa Bay radio audience about the details of his firing, his future, and the of events of the past two years. Bubba’s contract with Clear Channel radio restricted him from speaking on any other Tampa radio station. His contract with Clear Channel expired on Tuesday (February 28, 2006).

“97X is giving Bubba the chance to say goodbye to his listeners, which he never got a chance to do”, says 97X Program Director, Michael Sharkey. “This is radio history. We are welcoming a former direct rival to our airwaves to speak his mind.” Bubba the Love Sponge was employed at WXTB for 8 years and competed with 97X for his final three years after 97X signed on in November of 2000.

97X’s The Morning X with Fisher and Boy is the number 1 rated rock morning show in Tampa Bay. Bubba the Love Sponge can be heard daily from 4-8pm on the Howard 101 channel on Sirius Satellite Radio.
