Bubba on the Morning X

Guest
I listened to the broadcast (most of it). I was disappointed, Bubba was clearly restrained by lawyers... as to what he can say. I don't blame him, he is one guy against a corporation.

More power to BTLS, Brent, Manson and the folks at 97X for giving us one more local listen to a Tampa radio icon.

We have a lot to be proud of in Tampa. For a market our size, we have helped in more than our share of building careers of quite a few radio legends.

I agree iVan. I listened to the entire show from 6AM to 10AM and I loved it hearing Bubba back on the air and being on the air with Fisher and Boy at 97X. It was a great interview none the less. I just wish Clear Channel hadn't jumped on his ass but then again they got something going on or they wouldnt have flipped out.

All bulls**t aside... That was pretty cool this morning.

A lot of you emailed me personally with either “Good luck” wishes or compliments and I just want to say thank you.

I'm sorry, I know a lot of people like Bubba, but he certainly is not someone to be proud of. His 3/4 million dollar fine is an embarrasment to radio.

an embarrasment to radio?your kidding right
love him or hate him this was clearly selective
by the fcc if oprah can talk about tossing salad
sex in the city can run in sydinacation, the shield
on fx,even if its on after 10pm.this was more political than
anything.if the fcc truly wanted to clean up the airwaves
why are we not seeing any fines in the last year this was clearly
a hot spot in the political arena or am i to assume that we are
totally obscene free now that bubba and stern the reg guys opie n anthony
are mostly off the airwaves. while you may not like what he does he is one of many people from the tampa market to go on to bigger things

Question about Cox and Bubba

Over the interview on 97X I heard Bubba mention he was trying to go to 102.5 The Bone. Is that really in talks at Cox for him to be on over at 102.5FM? Or is that just something he wants to try and do.

He was probably talking about during his 2 yrs off of radio. I highly doubt he is trying to get a job with them now considering he has a nice fat contract with Stern/Sirius

Re: Question about Cox and Bubba

True but he was saying he would be back in the Tampa market one day and he talked a lot about being with 'The Bone' and he didnt say during the 2 years. I found that really interested and just was wondering what everyone else made of that. Because, at one point he said he'd do both Sirius and 'The Bone' but I don't think he can do both though because wouldn't Sirius have something to say about that?

Re: Question about Cox and Bubba

Brent looked surprised when he said it and when I asked him off the air if he was serious, he said he was... But I haven't heard anything from my Cox peeps.

Re: Question about Cox and Bubba

Wow, that is surprising. I didn't think he could do anything outside of his Sirius contract but I guess we'll see. Maybe he is going to talk with Cox and his Sirius powers to be.

Cox is adamantly against satellite programming. Clark Howard was approached by XM and Cox killed it. Cox would never hire BTLS. How could you ever air his current show on terrestrial radio today? It is just too dirty. You'd have to edit out so much.
